OLD NEWBIE HERE
HOWDY
one of my customers turned me onto this site when he found out i got a 14.
i'm a native to south fla and have owned a hi-po m/c shop since 1990. september of this year i will be celebrating 30 years in the south fla m/c industry, and am proud to say my shop has a reputation for honesty and integrity, something that is very much lacking down here. i have mostly been active on a few of the busa sites as i am a busa owner,a 2k model with almost 51,000 mls. 1363 motor, lotsa custom fabbed stuff,c/f wheels, skoot weighs 495 with a full tank. we work on more busas than all other skoots combined.
so now a new chapter is starting with this 14,i picked it up in the crate this past wednesday and assembled it that afternoon. it now has about 650mls,and am now doing the breakin maintenance.
thoghts on the skoot...except for the atrocious low gear/low rpm tork loss,it is a great bike,a better platform in stok congiguration than a stok busa.even with all of the mods to the front brake on my busa(pads, rotors, lines c/f wheel),they still don't measure up to the the 14's stoppers! i did set up the suspension yesterday as i felt an imbalance between the front and rear. skoot now has much better suspension action and better handling,i finally got rid of the chicken strips 2day! since 2000 we have been making a line of mirrors for the
sportbikes ,and i fabbed up a proto-type set yesterday. the skoot looks absolutely killer with our mirrors on and those stock mirrors(antlers?) off. i have some changes to make as i am not quite happy with the first set of mirrors. i should have them redisigned and made this week.
as the busa has been at a point that i am entirely happy with it,it is now time to play with this 14. when it is broken in to my standards it'll go up on my dyno to see what it's got.
i look forward to gettin back here as much as possible,me thinks i'll be visiting the busa sites a bit less now.i'll post some pics asap, but can someone point me to a photo host site. i was using photo-bucket,but they don't allow uploading to websites anymore.
looks like we are all having lotsa fun with this 14!!

Hey Ray !
I guess you finally gave in to the dark side, considering the first thing you said to me when you saw mine was, "That's the ugliest thing I've ever seen!".
That photo of Mark is great. Looks like he's thinking, "Wait till I get on this thing and flog it at 160 mph on Snake Rd.!".
Congrats on the bike.

i love the mirrors, but
1. can we get a "closer" look at them?
2. can you really see anything with them?
normally wouldn't care since sportbike mirrors are notoriously worthless.... but the stock ones on the ZX-14 actually ARE useful

here are the finished mirrors with the plates in black. i had to change the stem design, the mirrors are more functional than the first set,and fit the lines of the skoot better. they give a decent view, but we intended them to replace what is at times ugly stok mirrors. they weigh 1 5/8 pound less than the stockers.we have been making them for over 6 years now, they l;ook killer on the busas....

u can definately feel a difference in the handling and slightly better acceleration, and it shows the 14's nicely shaped front end which is somewhat obscured by the stok mirrors.
we'll be making a batch soon.
