--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey gents, just found your site - some of you have heard of me, some of you haven't. I run California Superbikes, and we design and build supercharger kits for the fastest of the fast. As the ZX-14 is the new dominant speed demon, we want to supercharge it! You guys don't want to get beat by a turbo busa, do you?

So here's the deal, any of you guys with a 14 in the SF Bay Area want a supercharger unit at cost? Tuned and installed for free as well. The catch is that I have to borrow the bike for a few days to begin with while I get dimensions for bracketry and plenums, then a week later once everything is fabbed up.

Let me know guys!

IF.....

That shop has a good reputation then great.

Butt...

There are VERY few blower kits on the market and there's a reason for that. I'd be doin a whole lotta research with this cuz it's still gonna cost ya $5+K at "cost" and the R+D time will be extensive too.

Consider the options - Muzzy had already stated a few months ago here that the 14 turbo kit will be on it's way.

Putting a supercharger on a 12:1 motor seems like a dumb idea to me unless you can purchase race gas everywhere you ride. On my turbo bike I went with LOW compression pistons and more boost but at least with a turbo you can dial boost up and down with the waste gate. On the old Kaw I could use moderate boost, 18lbs, on premium pump gas and a bit more with my water injection tank filled.

I admit my 8:1 compression pistons made for less torque off boost, but at 1392cc it still was no slug and 27 psi of boost was available (highest I ever set the wastegate) at about 5000 rpm and still significant boost down as low as 3000 rpm.

Stalwart good points. it's not a deal yet I have questions main one is the 12:1 issue I don't want to be putting windows in pistons and still need to run on pump gas. but it may be able to run 3 - 4lb with a ignition retard unit from Schnitz. like i said lots of qestions. and to answer D look at their sight full kits are $4500 so I am hopeing for around half of that. But I have been wrong before- many times to be exact.

3-4 lb. would probably give you in the neighborhood 35 to 40 GROSS horsepower increase but you would probably have only about 20-25 NET horsepower increase due to the power required to run the supercharger. For even half the cost at $2250.00 it isn't much of a bargain. I bet you can spend that kind of money elsewhere and make even more power without the extra weight.

I have a lot of supercharged and turbocharged engines and there is no free lunch with any of them. On my boat engines, it takes about 100 hp just to drive the supercharger.
