Anyone else ever deal with Kawasaki crate damage?
How was it resolved?
Was it resolved?
Roger are you out there?
Its almost been 4 weeks and I think its time to straighten this out.
I'm getting tired of the 2nd word info and conversations.
This will NOT go away until resolved!

My front fender was damaged. I am supposed to have a new front fender this week. It actually workrd out not too bad as I picked up a large stone chip on the damaged fender, so at least when I exchange it I get rid of the stone chip as well.

Your dealer should take care of it. They will be re-emburst by Kawasaki.

Well i have a story.... I might tell.
Still waiting for an outcome.
I am going to give it a little more time, and get some straight answers.
It might be premature.
Was curious what others experiences have been.
BTW did i mention I still love my bike. Fantastic machine.

I had a small scrape in my right mirror due to crate damage. They said they had ordered a new mirror. I'll ask when I go in for first service next week.

Well I work at a dealer, and we very rarely have any bikes with crate damage. I've put hundreds of bikes together and have maybe seen two with damage. Kawasaki request we take pictures of the crates before we even take the cardboard off to show if there's any phsyical sign of damage to the crate, then we take another picture once the card board is off. On the damage we have had it was handled very quickly. But maybe without pictures it's more of a battle.

Oh no , pics were taken!
I did not see the crate.
They assembled the bike without me.

No, but I want to know what they are going to do about the scratched frame.
Powder coat or baked enamel, eitherway the body shops want nuthin to do with it.
Cost of frame would be about $2000 I would imagine.
pipes would run 1000 retail I guestimate, lower cowling and rear rim another 700
Thats around 3.5- $4000 retail in parts, double it for labour.
I am willing to be very flexible $
otherwise fix it all! for 7-$8000
Its all cosmetic but i paid for a new bike , not a beaten one.

Scratched frame? Tell them to give you a new bike. I'm serious. An insurance claim with the amount of damage you described would be in the $8,000 range as you stated.
Contact Kawasaki. In you owners manual they outline the procedures for filing a complaint. Everything MUST be in writing.
You paid for nothing less than a perfect new motorcycle like everyone else recieved. I would be complaining loudly and demand that the bike be replaced. You, and everyone else deserves to get what they paid their hard earned cash for.

I'm still trying to figure out why you would accept a damaged bike anyway?
The first thing I do when buying a new bike is go over it at the dealership with the sales rep standing there. Any damage and it ain't going home with me.

I bought a crate damaged Honda that was a dealer to MY dealer trade/sale.
Honda took care of everything. (They did tell my dealer that they should have opened the crate and checked the bike first)
I think it is up to your dealer to put the heat on Kawk.
I had my dealer put it in writing, but it was just cosmetic.
Your dealer DID tell you that he'd get you another bike? If you wanted to wait.

It should not be a problem. Mine arrived with really minor smudges on 2 fairing panels, the dealer pointed them out to me, I could have lived with them but he ordered replacements and had them on the bike in under a week.
I could have hit them with a little polish and never noticed them again. Tell your dealer to get on the stick.
Of course I knocked it off the kickstand and scratched almost everything 2 days later. I about puked .................

When I bought my black one about a month ago it had a scuff in the front fender, a mark on the top of the tailpiece and the lower right side of the fairing had a nick in it that the dealership pointed out to me. They ordered all new for me and had all the new parts in less than a week. Very satisfied with parts availability and the dealership.

I work at a dealer ship and I would not except a new bike with a scratched frame, sounds like yours fell of off the truck, or your dealer was very careless.

Nope, the crate braces that attatch to the swingarm bolt, were broken, and 1 rubbed the frame.
I expect to recieve a reasonable solution by thursday.
I have my reasons for taking the bike , but am not willing to disclose all the particulars unless this is not dealt with reasonably.
I have been reasonable, and Kawasaki is a big corporation, which I believe will be honorable, and fair..........
