Interesting observation about the low end

After riding the bike for 1,000 miles, I've noticed something about the bike's throttle response. It is, indeed, soft down low. BUT, although at 3,000 to 5,000 rpm just turning the throttle about 1/2 way doesn't do much, when you turn further, the bike suddenly pulls harder. It's as if either the timing changes, or more fuel is suddenly added.

Anybody else notice this? It is, however, more pronounced with the 16T front sprocket.

What I'm talking about, the increased response when opening the throttle past a certain poimt, wasn't mentioned in those threads.

I have to agree. When the throttle is turned more fuel is added! Ha!

I always felt that was the case with the 98 9R I had and also with the 12 (not refering to the obvious more fuel added but more like different map in use for WOT).

I never did get a confirmation as to whether is was a function of the K-TRIC ignition or not.

That sort of makes sense...

Dyno runs are conducted full throttle, of course, and I've noticed that the dyno graphs posted show pretty linear curves - no noticeable, pronounced dips or "softness".

What would be interesting is if someone could design some software that would produce a dyno curve -and- show the relationship between power production and throttle position.
