OIL CHANGES ? when ?
Just wondering if you know when the oil is supose to be changed ? i cant seem to make sense of it reading the manufacturers specs. Is it 500 or 1000miles for the 1st change since they have different oil in there for the breakin period ? and what is it after that ? or whats right and wrong ?

It's 500. I'm doing mine at 100, and 500 and then 1000. Then every 2 thousand.

In general, I think sportbike owners are a little fanatical about oil changes (myself included). I change oil at 500 and 1000 miles and then every 2K-3K miles thereafter.

After looking at where the filter and oil drain is on the 14, I was amazed to see that you do not need to remove the fairings to change the oil. Everything is right there................changing oil is going to be a snap!

I change the oil at 100, 250, 500 then at 1000, when I broke the 2002 12 in on the street...
Now that I DragRace I change the RedLine oil and OEM filter every 20-30 passes which adds up to around 25 miles!!!
Change the clutches every 100-120 passes...

Yes, it's the easiest oil change ever. All you need is a shallow pan and you're golden!
Be warned that the factory installed oil filter is on *extremely* tight, so be prepared to fight with it. You will either need a proper-sized wrench or a small strap wrench to get it off without using the screwdriver method.

Good point on the shallow pan. Did not think of that!
