Motorcycle.com tests ZX14 vs. 'Busa.
This is the first head to head test I've seen. They gave everything to the 14, except handling. In the tighter/slower twisties they said the 'Busa was notably sharper. Otherwise, all victories went to the 14 (Power, torque, comfort, design/engineering, wind protection, instrumentation). Fairly interesting, accurate article, I thought.
HP was 171 for the 14, and 159 for the 'Busa.
Torque was 105/14, high 90's/'Busa.

idiots...they obviously either can't ride, or they never actually rode a 14, cuz the 14 outhandles the Busa everwhere and dats a fact Jack....and they must be using STD HP, cuz the 14 ain't puttin out no 171...and the Busa don't do no 159 stock either...more like 151...STD is for pussies and cheaters:P...SAE is the only true way to measure HP...

As long as they're using the same measure, I don't care about the gross HP numbers. It gives me the relativity. That'll work for me. But, yeh, my 'Busa did 151, also. On a hot, muggy day, mind you...
I thought the same on handling until last weekend. I took the bike up to the N. GA mountains. At slow speed around town, or in the faster sweepers, I go w/the 14. In the tight twisty stuff, I was pretty disappointed w/it. It felt...long, more than heavy. It's been about 3 years since I had my 'Busa, so a direct comparison's not fair on my part, but I'm going to have to do some fiddling w/the suspension. Once I hit 2K miles, we'll start adjusting. Hopefully, that'll clean it up in the tight stuff.

Damned subscription site! Haven't they learned how to market themselves properly to pay the bills? Sheesh...
PAYING to read that site would be like PAYING for HBO and still being forced to watch 3rd party commercials. They need to wake up

Trust me, guys. I'm workin' it! It ain't bad, and it's great fun, but you know it's not an RR. And that's cool. It's not supposed to be...
Just got back from the mountains a couple of hours ago. Had my wife on the bike. It actually handled better. Settled it down and it didn't feel so wallowy and out-of-balance. A little tuning oughtta' help matters considerably. In any even, as a hyper-GT bike (The reason I got it.), it's awesome.
BTW, they picked the 14 as the clear overall winner of the shootout. One of the writers said he would pick the 'Busa for his money, however.

Since both hp #'s are high, I suspect they used a Superflow dyno which yields a higher power reading than a DJ250.

The busa is no bike to put down that's for sure. I've owned two of them and they are great bikes. The 14 brakes are much better, the engine and shifting is awesome. I just like the 14 more. I wasn't too excited about the 14 at first, but now that I have one, I am excited!

In fact, If the 07 busa is greatly improved, I will buy one. But the 14 is a keeper!

I will be a potential '07/'08 'Busa customer, as well. Keeping the 14, also, most likely. Love the hyper-GT's!

I've owned '99 busa and I agree with you but the rear breaks are crappy on both bikes.
