Doing a 'Busa Demo on Saturday
Why you ask since I just got my '14 a week ago? I have never owned a 'Busa, but I haver ridden one a few times, but not in a couple of years. I'm just interested to see again what it is like in comparison to the '14.
They might do a 'double take when I roll up on a new '14!
I'll post my thoughts after the demo ride.
I'm a demo ride fool, I do as many as I can every year.
Buell's in early June, Victory also early June, Ducati's in July................

The Busa guys will be drooling, but won't let you see it...Busa will pull very hard down low (as will your's -- even harder one day, after we get a fix), but where the 14 starts its powerband, Busa will be heavy in it and losing steam rapidly after that...Busa hasn't got the same pull at 6K up as the 14...not really close either...and vibration will be more evident on the Busa...also...no brakes and a hard sloppy ride....easy on the throttle down low in turns...it has almost no limitation on low RPM pulls...it's scary.

Well I did my demo ride today and the Busa was pretty much as I remembered from my last ride on one a couple of years a go.
The engine does feel a little stronger below 5000 rpm, but is hard to tell. It could just be that it vibrates quite abit more than the '14 does and is louder..........both intake and exhaust noise.
This particular Busa felt pretty coarse around 4 - 4500 rpm's. Lots of buzz in the foot pegs and clip on's. My hands were starting to feel a little numb after 45 minutes on the bike.
Transmission is not nearly as positive as the '14 and feels much heavier. You have to be more deliberate in your shifting than on the '14. Not nearly as much feel from the clutch either, more like a toggle switch. Much more drive line lash as well.
The riding position is much more cramped. Foot pegs are higher. Clip on's are a tad lower than the '14 I think. I found I had to hug the tank to get comfortable on the 'Busa, not able to move around as much as I can on the '14. Stock Busa seat is a bit of a plank as well.
The Busa handles like a 540 lb bike, feels heavy, where the '14 surprised me with how tossable it is for a big bike.
Brakes are not even close to the '14, they are adequate, but do not have the great feel and huge stopping power that the brakes on the '14 have.
Instrument cluster is pretty dated as well.
I remember when I rode a Busa for the first time and how completely blown away I was by the power. Still a strong bike, but felt kind of average after being on the '14.
Hopefully Suzuki does update the 'Busa as expected for '07. As it stands now, the ZX 14 is really a much better bike in every measurable area. Just the overall feel and sophistication of the '14 is quite a bit better than the 'Busa.

Zrexer, I had two busa's in the past and agree with you on everything you said. I'm still amazed how smooth the 14 is

Great report. If I may add, just wait until you have a couple thousand miles on the 14. It's even smoother....Thats a Promise

I think that Kawasaki killed some of the low end to prevent front wheel pop, to make it smoother, and
to make it easier to have as a daily rider.
