I HATE bugs
Just spent 2hrs wiping yellow and red entrails off my nice new bike. I say fuck'em. I want to nuke'm all. WTF they can't see me come'n at 160mph they have like 100 eyes in their ugly little friggin heads. If those little bastiches want to commit headlong hari-kari let them do it on grandpas Buick. I want a high speed aerodynamic bug zapper to hang out front so all that hit my shiny red bike is toast. That'ill teach em.

+1 on the bug hating...........
We have grasshoppers by late July, early August, they are 'armored' and hurt like hell if they hit any exposed skin at high speeds.......................years of riding naked bikes.
They also beat the shit out of your radiator. Anyone with a '14 come up or seen a radiator screen for the '14? Don't want to sacrafice airflow, even though it doesn't get that hot up here. I just hate seeing all the mashed up cooling fins on the radiator!

Has anyone ever used a bugscreen on a sportbike? Do they help much? I'm sure it won't keep the guts off, but it might reduce the impact. We have lots of little pebbles on our roads in Texas (poor re-surfacing techniques combined with high heat), so I was hoping that a screen might reduce the chance of a pebble taking out the radiator too. I've had more than one riding buddy who has had to search for a bottle of Stop-Leak while on a ride a couple of hundred miles from home... that's not a good feeling.

Sounds like a good idea to screen the radiator if Texas roads are like that. You could try a fender extender too, so that nothing from the front tire reaches the rad'.
As for the body work, you aren't likely to get many stone chips from the vehicle in front, because YOU will be in front on a 14. However, there is some clear plastic material which can be applied to bodywork to protect it. Not sure of the trade name but I saw some on a GSX-R1000 the other day, looked really neat.

dry polymer wash.
I use wash n' dry, but I think amsoil makes some too.
Its a waterles wash, which means you don't have to hose down the whole machine, then dry it to remove water spots.
I know it seems totally wrong to rub something into yur paint but truth be known I've used this stuff for 6 years now and it does not scuff!
The polymer lubricates the dust and bug particles while lifting them off the paint.
It leaves no swirls, just deep mirror finnish, and protects too!
Unless the bike is really muddy, or its time to clean the rims too, I don't use water anymore.
A bonus is it can be used on plastic, metal, lexan, mirrors and glass....
I can spot clean the bike anywhere without getting into a 2 hr ordeal!
And of course the bugs area attracted to it, with its headlight arrangement its the biggest most beautiful bug on the road!

Make yer own radiator screen fer bout $10 - buy some steel mesh @ the hardware store, cut to fit and zip tie on.
Or you could wait for Cox to make sumthin - only took coupla years for the 10 screen

Need something beefier that that to prevent radiator damage once the ZX14's start scooping the BusaBugs.

...ahhh the irony...one of the major allures of motorcycling is the real-time sensation of the elements rushing pass or smashing into your shiny steed and your body, properly protected or otherwise, as we rush towards our destination or destinies...hate bugs, the smell, and the clean-up?...simple...drive a car, then!

All this bug stuff can be avoided if you simply spray down the front end of the bike with ......PAM (you know the stuff in the can used for baking cakes, etc). Eitherway, just give the front end a light coating of it (a misting if you will) just before you ride.
The bugs will not stick and clean-up is a snap.
