Got it at Super Moto St-Hilaire. They sell the 4 japonese flavours. I think that may be why they got 'em later (i.e. they sell Suzuki, the Enemy). Of course, that's just a hunch..., based upon the fact that Motosport Newman (and they sell Yam and Kaw only, as japs go), on Taschereau, got theirs, a black one (not sold) not long after you announced the Deshaies got yours.

Well whatever, I'm now looking forward to days of looking at it and sitting on it, if not riding it!

That'd be great. But for the fucking rain...

Hmmm... New bike, new power (that makes my VFR feel like a scooter - I know, I tested a Busa for a ½hour then got back on the VFR...), new tires and a wet road... The perfect recipe for disaster!

Chicken shit? You bet! But not for my health, nor for the fact that I'd like to be around to see my son come of age. Hah! Those reasons pale in comparison to the crippling angst I would feel if ever I saw the fairings ripped from the bike due to a "bad weather" mishap...

If I'm lucky at all (Doom, dispair and agony on me... if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...), the bike will be assembled, tested and ready to deliver tomorrow afternoon. Luckier still would I be if the weather was nice. At least I could ride it for a little while.

I'm not a religious man but, I'll pray to the Gyroscope God for clement weather...

Well...I don't ride in rain either...these things are fucking disaster's in rain....too much TQ. I meant when it was riding weather anyway; downed my Busa last year rounding a corner at 50 kmh with cold tires and I was clutched too; so no power to the rear wheel and the fucking thing slid out on me, go figger -- while I was on my way to FAST at Shannoville for the day...so I saw the plastics take it in the ass...ouch...(had frame sliders too)...they're calling for rain in the afternoon...anyway, soon as it's nice, lets go fer a ride...2 black 14's together ...we'll have em in fuckin awe dude! I'll call my Busa buddy also to join us.

Thursday for me..................dealer is so back logged it has taken them a week to get to my bike for PDI. Salesman is apologetic as hell, they are very short staffed (as is almost every business in Alberta right now.)

Bought the bike in Calgary (best price by far) so the maiden voyage will be a 300 klick ride back to Edmonton. It looks like I have a good weather 'window' to get it home as I am not crazy about taking off on a cold day in the rain on new tires on a bike I am not used to.

I will probably dump the oil and do a filter change when I arrive home Thursday night.

Just a question, what works best to remove the filter on the '14? A strap type filter wrench or the cup style that slips over the filter? Is there room for either without removing the lower fairing panel on the filter side?

Fuck, fuck! I forgot to order the fucking sliders... all the more reason not to ride it in the rain...

FBA:
Your pic, is that you on the Nelson?

I'm doing FAST, two days back to back, end of may. Did you like your experience there?

I'll take you up on your invite. Thanks a lot!

Give me some time though to ajust to the bike. I don't have your experience on a missile like the 14. Actually, I don't have your experience on a bike as a whole. I'm 38 and only been rolling on two wheels for 5 years now. Then again, I've ridden the Dragon (and the Blue Ridge Parkway it's whole length) 3 years in a row in that time. I don't suck too bad!

Kawi really tightens em on!
Prob because the lawsuits, if you had one come loose or leak all over the rear tire of a 200 HP bike!

Yup dats me on the Nelson, in fact, that was the day I dumped my Busa on the way to the track. I was unable to walk and had to go to the hospital that night, but I was able to shift so I rode that day

Hey...good luck with the pickup today...tell the stealer to hurry the fuck up and get it ready this morning so you can ride it home before it rains. We're doing FAST again at the end of June but we also have 2 days booked at the track at Tremblant this August, now that's a track...we still have some open spots for that one.

Bought it at CYCLEWORLD in Toronto.
Biggest Dealer in these parts and I've been buying from a pal of mine there for 20 years.
They are just getting F---ed by KHI
Heading to Windsor tomorrow fro a Big Funeral, and it is supposed to start raining here 'till Sunday.
And yea, I'm not a fair weather rider, but at 43 with all my old riding injuries that come out when it gets cold, and having a 5 and 2 year old... I'll pass on excessive rain riding, especially on a new ride that I don't know yet.

STILL WAITING IN T.O.

I heard on the UK grapevine that Big K are releasing our bikes to the dealers at the end of this week. Allow another week for distribution, "I was here first" squabbles and pre-delivery inspections. The first lucky few should be on the road in ten days or so.

My ZRX was stock, depending on the publication, it was rated between 112 and 116 rear wheel HP's and between 80 & 84 ft. lbs of torque. Those numbers are low compared to current crop of bikes, but the ZRX perfomed well as you always had major grunt at lower rpm.
The ZRX offered very good grunt from 2500 rpm's and up. It had great roll on power. It will be interesting to feel the contrast when I pick up my '14 tomorrow. Will the '14 being limited under 6000 feel as strong as my ZRX at under 6000 rpm?
Unless I was in a major hurry, for a normal street ride (sane) I rarely went past 7000 rpm because the performance was so good lower down in the rev. range. You had to have respect for the ZRX as well as it would easily spin the rear tire in slower speed cornering if you hit the power too hard and early coming out of a corner.

More like 5k where it starts to hit hard...in the lower gears, its there at 5K...6 is where the "switch" turns on and you start to hang on for dear life! Start a roll on at 7 in 1st or 2nd and watch her come up! You won't be dissapointed...just ride it like ya stole it! This thing has so much power...it'll rip yer arms off

I've got a strap wrench that I cut down the handle on (use it on my Miata) so it may clear the floor OK. I hate using the screw driver approach, because if you tear the filter can apart, you have a real mess trying to get the filter base off the engine (don't ask how I know!)
I find what works well on a strap wrench to get 'extra traction' on a stubborn filter is to take some 80 or 60 grit sand paper and put a strip of it inside the strap (holding it in place with a few thin strips of duct tape). It will give the extra bite to spin off a really stubborn filter.
The first filter on my SV was so tight I had to have my wife hold the bike down as I was lifting it off the side stand pulling on the filter wrench! The gasket on the filter stripped off and was stuck on the filter mounting base on the engine. Since then I can usually hand loosen and tighten, never had a leak.

One other thing I have found. If the engine is stone cold, loosen the filter first. They are often much easier to loosen when the engine is cold. I find if I crack it loose when the engine is cold, re tighten and take the bike out to warm up the oil, they come off easily then.

I used my smallest adjustable oil filter / strap-style wrench. It also had a swivel handle, so clearing the floor wasn't a problem. I had to fold up two red shop towels into 1/4ths, stack them on each other, then put them over the can of the filter. That added enough diameter that my wrench was able to grip the filter can and it screwed off very slowly... damn it was tight!

When I installed the new filter, I got 3/4-7/8 of a turn by hand. We'll see how easily that one comes off in a couple of months.
