Still no bike, but dealer did call......

My dealer called me today, and I was suprised that he did. Of course I was expecting them to say " your bike will be here tomorrow or got here today"; but that didn't happen, here's what did. So they say to me, "Phil we don't have your bike yet and we're sorry you've had to wait this long; we do however have some promising news". So I ask o.k. what is it?

They replied, "we'll be getting your ZX-14 by the end of this week or the middle of next week".

So I ask, how do you know it's the one I ordered (blk) vs the other guys bike (red) who's also waiting for one as well? They said, "because we have the serial number for the bike that'll be arriving first, and from that number we know it's BLACK".

I told them, I order in NOV 05 and expected to take full delivery NLT 15 Apr, however I was considering cancelling my order if the bike didn't arrive by 15 MAY 06. I informed them that I added the extra month because of new information I received about expected release and delivery dates, and that also my birthday was MAY 13th and that having it by then and riding it on my birthday would be great, as a gift to myself.

They replied; "well we don't want to make empty promises about it being here by the end of this week (12 May) so you can ride on your birthday, but we'll try to get it here before mid next week as that's the time frame we're expecting it". So I said; so we're looking at like what? 16th or 17th of may? They said yes, mid next week.

I hope this bike gets here soon and I don't know about all that serial number stuff or how it relates to color if it does at all. I just want my bike so I can ride...... that's it.

Phil

man, i feel for you. i don't know if i could have waited that long to get a bike. think of it this way, you have waited 7 months, another week will go a lot faster. it is worth a wait for another week. this is a great bike.

Phil,

Brother, I could totally feel yur pain, and frustration.
Its gonna be worth every moment you wait.

This bike is undeniably, thee BEST bike I have ever owned, and for my needs and desires...
THEE BEST I have ever thrown a leg over.

EVERY time I pull on my helmet I get the same sense of excitement and anxiety I did as a child at Christmas.
You know? like you could jump out of your skin?

( could you imagine a grown man feeling like a child again? might sound gay but really it feels good to have that sense of excitement back at age 36)!!!!

My CR500AF ( which I built) takes a narrow second to this bike in excitement and adrenaline.

The power is wicked, below 4500 rpm in 4th, 5th, and 6th, it winds itself up like a big elastic band, and then suddenly around 6000 rpm the elastic band is let go.
Everything becomes ballistic.

Oh yeah and any of the lower 3 gears wil deliver nice smooth power wheelies around 7500 rpm the front gets light and gradually climbs higher off the ground with the rpm.

I should say the acceleration is explosive above 7500 rpm, but the front end lift is gradual.
What a rush!

Its worth the wait, I promise!

The only thing I must change is the clip ons.
The downward angle strains my left wrist, so for long highway rides it gets sore.
Heli bars!

Last year when I went shopping for a 1000, I test rode the Gixxer...awesome power, but I (at 6'2" -- 215lbs) had the same issue as you, which is why I chose the 10R...same reason I kept the 05 10R and blew off the 06...

Well as you all know with all the waiting that everybodies done and all the date changes and all the pictures we've seen and all the reviews we've read, it's just now is the time to be fucking riding and I'm not. Plenty of vacation days to take and no bike to take them with. In case you didn't know, this is Montana and we haven't shit to do except find shit to do, my way is my bike and it isn't here yet.......that's said. I have been waiting this long so I'm not gonna give up adn there's no other bike I want so I wait. If there was an alternative to the ZX-14 I'd consider it but there isn't one so I wait. Hell, by the time I get mine they already be starting delivery overseas. I know my friend sare tired of seeing me at work with a long face, but when the bike gets here they'll see me no more, I'll be riding.

Got my Dainese Rossi Rep Jacket, got my Soumy Spec-1R Rep Helmet and I'm ready for some riding....just need the fucking bike!

It's here; It's here.

The dealer called me yesterday (Wed) and left a voice message on my cell, didn't get the message until this morning though. Went by the dealer and saw the bike all put together and ready to go with 1.4 miles on it. . Didn't take delivery since I'm working the financing and insurance at this time. State Farm says $469 per yr full coverage. Should get the binder back from them in the mornig and here about financing at that time ($9K).
Perhaps I'll be riding real soon. It's black, it's beautiful and it's about to be mine, all mine

See Ya,
Phil (Great Falls, MT)

Unless Kawasaki has significantly changed the way they do things, you CANNOT determine color from the VIN.
