Engine temp problem - getting better

Ok guys, here's an update on the engine temp...

It was warm again today, I think we hit about 89F. I rode to work in the morning, nothing new there, but on my ride home I was watching the engine temp closely. My speeds varied from 80mph+ interstate highway cruising to sitting on those same interstates in stop-and-go traffic up to 10-20mph. My commute home is about 25 miles, and about 5 miles of it was spent occasionally stopping and sitting, to going 10-20mph. You non-city folk probably don't get to enjoy real traffic like this, do ya?

The good news is that I never saw my temp gauge get higher than one mark above mid. That's very nice! Even after stopping at the local motorcycle shop, then leaving again about 30 minutes later, the temp stayed at that mark or below once I got moving for a few miles.

The '14 has about 850 miles on it now, and the first oil change was done last week at 609 miles.

Probably dealer prep did not fully burp the system, and now the air pockets have finally made their way to the radiator?

Make sure you don't have any small kids or pets stuck in the radiator.

ZM, I remember something simalar happening on the 2nd VFR. After some time to think it's not impossible to have some garbage screw with the wax unit then get blown out again. This is one of the reasons I always drain my coolant re-fill with water heat to pressure, Cool (do I really have to say that...CYA) drain then put in new coolant, cleans out a lot of garbage. I have not had a heating problem in some 60,000 miles ;^ )

still not the best break in for any engine
simply put

you are residing in toooooo many heat ranges for tooooooo long
worse scenario you actually develope more residual water....... thats right
water in the oil

idling from any manufacturer
& for any engine extensively is considered
"Severe Duty" !!!!!!

why subject a new engine to such rigors ???????

on any new vehicle i obstensibly take a weekend to
break in properly at mid temperartures
varying RPMs in the mountains
carefully makinf sure i stop for gas .... potty.... food
at which time i rest me & engine

that i dont blvd cruise
pimp my ride
look at ... look at me

the stop & go bump & grind
my vehicles NEVER experience

resulting in very tight ... robust.... reliable & Fast engines

ever wonder where
sooooty ....... wet ...... pipes
come from

no less upper cylinder deposits
