Poll Question: 10R power commander will work?
Dave Turner at Muzzys stated that the power commander for the ZX10R will not work with the 14. You would think that a sales repersentative for Muzzys would know.. I was told by Ryan Schnitz and also Brock Davidson that in fact it will work.. Well who do you think is right?
Poll Results:
3 votes (27%)
Muzzy's Dave Turner
8 votes (73%)
Ryan Schnitz and Brock Davidson

All power commanders are the same. Except for how they are wired and the plugs. I am not aware of any direct plug in Power Commander for the ZX-14. I have not seen an 06 ZX-10 Power Commander yet. I checked with Parts and they did not have either. So my vote is for Dave Turner. I would suspect that Ryan and Brock are refering to the special unit that we wired up for mapping purposes. MUZZYS has ZX-14 Power Commander Maps. We will have Power Commanders as soon as it is possible.

Sounds like it would not matter what the donor bike was the ends would not match up
so it would have to be spliced together. UNTIL DYNOJET get the zx14 connectors.

I have already said there is no direct plug in. Why don't you get one from Ryan? Dave needs to look, it is in our files.

There are many Power Commanders that have the same plugs, but all are wired differently.

Those 2 sales people are not very friendly at Muzzy's. I think I read elsewhere that other people didn't like the way they treated them as well.

Muzzy's products are great ....... but their prices (dealing direct) suck.
You can buy Muzzy products cheeper through their vendors ..... figure that one !

As a manufacturer, Muzzys cannot sell below their retailer's, otherwise the retailers would scream bloody murder and drop them in a heartbeat. This is normal business practice...so you only need to buy from a dealer instead to get the discounted price.

I think Ryan was talking about the power commander ignition module, they are available, but the power commander fuel remappimg module isn't yet, two different items.

Ryan stated that the zx10 pc3 would work , it just needs to be rewired, will the zx10pc3 plug work with the zx 10 ?- I don't know.
So apparently some wire changes in either the stock or pc3 plugs will need to be moved.

You are correct, I read his post agian, it will work if you know were the wires go.

I rewired a USB unit from a 2004 ZX-10...it was tougher than using the new 2006 ZX-10 unit because I had to add the TPS wires to the single connector as opposed to a separate connector as on the 04. (I did not have an 06 unit in stock)
Dynojet knows exactly what to do to make Power Commanders for the new 14 and I'm sure they are working as hard as possible to manufacture them.
It's a good thing- even in stock form with stock exhausts the ZX-14 can benefit more from a Power Commander than ANY other stock bike I have ever had on the Dyno.
**NO ZX-10 POWER COMMANDER FROM ANY YEAR WILL PLUG IN AND FUNCTION ON A ZX-14**
I know it's tough, but you guys need to be patient.
Most guys have no business trying this mod on their own. Even once modified, the unit was VERY difficult to attach to the bike. There is very little room to run the connectors through to the engine compartment.
I'm sure the proper version will be much more user friendly.

Brock, was there any major improvment to the performance of the bike on the Dyno? Were you able to eliminate the factory limitations on power below 5K?

The bike goes nearly off the chart rich before redline (10.7 to 1 A/F at 10,800)...I'm sure to keep the engine safe from guys like me who went out and topped out their brand new bike in high gear with less than 50 miles on the odometer!
Yes- there was an improvement on the dyno through the stock exhausts after mapping.
I am heading back to the track this evening to test with stock pipes again before we begin the track tests on our exhausts.
I have several prototype versions- each version already has production test fixtures made to begin production the moment I make the phone call to Hindle.

FYI:
We plan to start shipping systems around the 15th of this month.
I simply don't have the connections that Rob does at Kawasaki to get my hands on a prototype to begin production and testing early. Hindle was fortunate enough to obtain a ZX-14 from Kawasaki Canada ( THANK YOU JEFF!) or we would be even further behind schedule.
Not to worry, this is exactly how we have done it for years- it takes a bit longer to reach full production, but the results are well worth the wait.
Also- I am writing a Diary of events from the moment I picked up my 14 at the dealership until our testing is completed.
I'm too busy to add the diary to my site, but I plan to have it up by this weekend for all to see- Including photo's.
I will start a new thread as soon as it's ready.
