Brock's Performance ZX-14 Exhaust Test Procedure

Guys,
We are very busy testing our ZX-14 Exhaust components but I though you might like this...

I believe some of you might enjoy reading about the last time we (Hindle and Brock's) used all of our knowledge to produce and test a "top priority" exhaust system. The EXACT SAME process used here is being performed on the ZX-14 as you read about it!

Read about the results of the Super Streetbike Magazine/ Lee's Performance 2005 GSX-R1000 tests here:
Super Streetbike Exhaust Test

We may not have the FIRST system available for your new 14....but a bit of patience could assure that you receive the BEST!

Happy reading.

Good read - thanks Brock!

Do you have any plans for slip-ons only? I'm not too concerned about wringing out maximum performance for racing - I'll never use it all, but I would like it to sound better than this whisper-quiet stock system.

The megaphones might be a little over the top for me, but I'll keep an eye out for the slip-ons

Matt, slipons are a waste of $$$ IMO...

Leave it OEM or install a full aftermarket system!!!...I have seen alot of guys get slipons only to buy a full system the year later, wasting the $$$ because you cant use the slipons for the full system...

FYI: we use the same megaphones and mufflers for all of our systems except the shorty undertails.

This allows the customer to purchase a front section later for real power gains....BUT,
You would have one left over on the ZX-14.

Brock

ps. I personally agree....I would never spend the $ for slip-ons, but I am amazed at how many guys want just the look and sound with no HP gain?

Brock - Just curious, about how much will a pair of Ti slip-ons go for? I looked at your store and didn't see any slip-ons listed for other bikes like the 'busa.

i must be the only person that likes wisper quiet exhaust.

but i wouldnt mind putting a full system on a 14 simply cause of weight. form what i heard the exhaust system is pretty heavy on that beast (including the headers) unlike on the 10.

Well, some of us don't like gettin hassled by the servicing stealership when we have extended warranties on our machines and some of us live where The Man dictates easy swapping of non_DOT mufflers is required to either :

A)ride certain places and not getting an exhaust ticket,

B)Easily correcting said tickets for exhuast.

In a time when dealers decline warranty repairs because a set of frame sliders is in place, many of us just prefer not to be hassled.

AND...

While I fully appreciate the R+D and tuning that comes from the aftermarket, quite often the durability factor of stock components is often not matched (yes, that means weight usually).

Don't get me wrong - I've had pipes on almost every bike I've had and enjoyed the performance but I can tell ya right now that if this bike had come with a 4-2-1 then I'd still be a slip-on guy (just like my 10).

MUZZY Slip On's are in stock. Now that the bikes are out to the public we should be able to show Dyno info.

Yes please.

Could we get a weight comparison of 4-1 and slip-ons vs their stock components?

Yes got to get rid of those stock pieces of shit.. I rather have a full ti system got to get this pig on a diet... We need meth for bikes. Is it just me or is the industry have a large gap now between the liter bikes ( 06 way to small ) and now this over weight 14? I did like the physical size of the 12r just which it was updated..

No, I like them reasonably quiet as well - not quite whisper quiet, but not obnoxiously loud to the point where little kids cover their ears and old people wince when you ride by like they do with the asshats on their v-twin penile extenders. So you're not alone, but there sure aren't many of us...

This probably won't make me very popular (like I care...) but I'm glad to see that there are areas where excessive noise citations are being issued. And I hope they're damned expensive as long as the ordinance decibel level is reasonable.

I have had Pipes on each and every bike I have ever owned, yes I like the performance increase, yes I like the weight decrease, yes i like the look of a 4 into 1, and YES I have to admit, there is nothing that sounds as nice as a properly tuned pipe.
That said, I have to agree that stock pipes decrease hassle factor from service and law enforcement areas of concern, but if the latter is a concern, upshift and don't cruise past the school/hospital/Tim Horton's Donut shop at 8 Grand.

Just a thought

as for muzzy quality, I had a pipe custom made for my Windle Worm Sidecar (Ninja 1000 Motor) 13 years ago, and that was the start of my Muzzy love affair. Before that I was a hardcore Yosh guy.
Since then i have had a Muzzy on 3 bikes, and I can say their fit, finish and most of all Customer care/support is awasome.

Afain... just a thought

In some places, like California, you can get an "exhaust ticket" just for having an aftermarket pipe. Decibel level doesn't even need to come into play here
