The underside of the gas tanks were not painted???? I call bull shit on that!!
Anyone who works in manufacturing, and I do, building Corvette's, can tell you that with the quality gates that the product has to go through it would be "possible" for a half painted tank to make it to the production floor, but totally IMPOSSIBLE for ANY to make it all the way through assembly and out to the public!
(remember, I'm talking about something as major and visible as half a tank not being painted!!)

I've got to agree. How the hell does a whole first run of flagship vehicles get built, crated and shipped without someone noticing that it only has half a paint job? Could have got way more creative with the BS.

+1 on this being total BS.
The 14 has a fuel cell behind the engine. Tanks are painted hanging off an assembly line. It would be almost impossible for all of them to be not painted on the underside.
From the ZX-14 brochure:
"The unique monocoque over-the- top aluminum frame helps keep the
mid-section very narrow. The frame rail wraps over the engine, not
around, while the 5.8-gallon fuel cell resides behind the engine for very
efficient mass centralization."

If you must know Kawasaki has a transmission problem with the 14 that requires every unit to have the motor removed and a gear replaced. I'll wait for a later production unit please or an 07..... Tis the reason for all the long hours being put in by Kawasaki.

total BS. there is NOTHING wrong with the transmission. If every unit had to be torn apart for a trans fix, it wuld take the better part of a year to fix.
Just go ride and stop with the crazy talk. It's funny how people can pull stuff out of thin air, and soon as it's on the internerd it's the gospel truth.

HAHAHAHA
Has anyone noticed that most of the winers are guys that have just signed up?
Seems to me it may be just a group of pissed off Busalosers trying to stir some shit.
If it's not, then the winers really don't deserve any Kawasaki, let alone a 14 or a 12.

quote: People have been working long hours in order to get these bikes shipped out as soon as possible. No one ever thinks about all guys at the corperation who really care what you think about the bike and the company. Many people at kawasaki work there because they bleed green, not because it pays well. Give them a break. They read this site too, how about you thank them once in a while for the great bikes they work so hard building, designing and testing?
I, for one, want to say thanks for everyone's effort at Kawasaki to build and amazing motorcycle that will be the new ruler by which all other hypersport bikes will be judged.
Maybe I'm just tired of people saying that there are no bikes, when it's obious they are in showrooms at some (not all) dealers right now.
If you want one bad enough you can get it now....
THANKS!!! bud! a lot of us appreciate your hard work!!
now get off of the internet and figure out how to put that 14 clutch set up in my 12!!!

Well let's see now it's nearly the 5th month of the year and each U.S dealer is getting one. Starting to look like the better part of a year to me. My understanding was that it was a judgement call to do the repair and Kawasaki didn't want another negitive press from failures so they stepped up on this one. Hey don't blame me I don't work for Kawasaki and I didn't leak the info out. I'm just passin it on to fellow bikers. By the way MustMoto are you damage control for Kawasaki?? If so hurry back to work and get those trans fixed these guys are waiting.

Is this something New Kawasaki is trying this year? or perhaps something that's been going one since way back in the 1970's. Recon they forgot that the bikes had to be on the water by a certain date in order to still be for sale in the same model year?

Nope! 07 model for me. I always wait till second year. 01...12R, 05....10R, & 07.......14(?)R.
Not one person here is more devoted to Kawasaki than I. These are just my more recent bikes. My ties to my dealer are over 25 years long. He sees to it that I have clean info to make informed purchasing decisions. This board is sponsered by Kawasaki to a degree. A nice reassuring voice from them in an official capacity would be a great added feature. A voice that speaks the truth and is on the level. I don't believe any other Manufacturer is doing that and Kawasaki would be breaking NEW ground in customer relations. It's not my intent to piss people off about this situation, BUT Kawasaki needs to release some info in an official capacity to make buyers feel better. It's BS and 100% their fault that rumors get started and are spread. It's a changing world with the WEB and Kawasaki has a chance to step up and use this platform to set the pace for all others to follow. They can be a leader both on and off the track.
Kawasaki!! This is where we're at so this is the place to address your loyal customers. We wait, BUT only for so long

It's easy to tell if an engine has been apart for something like a tranny job by looking at the gasket joints and the hardware. Even if it's done in the warehouse, It's a messy job splitting cases.
I'll be willing to bet there's no sign of any such disturbance.

But there is just one thing that i have a problem with that none of you have said anything about. I live outside chicago. I only have 5 soild months to ride. If they the bike gets here today i still miss my 1st to road trips. All they have to do is just tell me the truth. Don't lie to me. I can go get me something to ride fro the summer. Just stop leaving me here hanging. I know this for sure if they don't come soon Kawasaki jut lost me as a customer. I got a buddy who traded his busa and sold his 12 just to pay for his bike upfront. Know he is stuck. This all happened last Oct. 05 that is what kills me if they would just come and say something i would be ok but this @#$! is killing me.
