AMBER ALERT: Abductor's Caught..
First time I've ever seen one... here it is... hope it helps someone....
"RCMP in Port Alberni believe Christopher Michael Justa abducted his three-month-old girl. Mounties say the infant could have been taken by her non-custodial father and possibly her non-custodial mother. The girl was taken during a supervised visitation through the Ministry of Children and Families. It's believed they are travelling in a 1986 white Jeep Cherokee. It has two doors and the BC licence plate number 003 CRK. RCMP say they believe the supsect and the missing girl are now in the Lower Mainland.
Christopher Michael Justa is 24-years old. He has brown hair and blue eyes. He is white, 6 feet tall, and 200 pounds. If you have any information on this amber alert, call 911 immediately."

Hope the find the losers. My wife is a probation officer in the sex offender unit, so I get to hear pretty rediculous stories that evolve from situations like this almost every day. This one doesn't sound sex-related, but there are plenty of kids who get obducted every day by sick-o's who have very bad intentions... and many of them are actually family members of the victim!
It's good to see the term "Amber Alert" has made it up to Canada. That whole thing started when a little girl named Amber Hagerman was kidnapped in Arlington, Texas in 1996. I lived in Arlington at the time, and I remember all of the media coverage very clearly. At the time, local governments had no procedure in place to alert the public to be on the lookout for a missing child. They put this Amber Alert program together to quickly feed information to the media for broadcast, posting information on highway message boards, etc. It has helped with many local cases of missing/obducted/kidnapped children locally, and it went national in the US in 2003.

I applaud the "Amber Alert"..... BUT, I don't think it should be used in cases like this that seem to be custodial fights. It's like anything, if it's used too often, people will stop paying attention to it, it will loose it's "shock" value, it's "alert" status and will become just like those pictures you see on the back of the milk cartons......
the Amber Alert should ONLY be used when an abduction has occurred that is non-custodial... just my

hmmm... first time I've ever seen one locally.. I suppose that the police must have a pretty good reason for issuing the alert... I can only assume this to be the case as I've never seen one before, and I figure there must be custody disputes every day. Gots ta be some special circumstances to make it into an Amber Alert, one would think.

Yeah - I think child obductions happen very frequently, and they have for long time, but now we are all hearing about them because of the Amber Alert system getting the word out to mass media.
As for setting off an alert for this particular situation, while it sounds like the people to took her are possibly the "blood" mother and father, they must be non-custodial for some good reason... likely they are physically or sexually abusive, or somehow unable to properly care for a child (mental issues, druggies, etc). Those are all pretty typical reasons that a biological parent will lose custody... seems like a pretty good reason to set off the alert to me.

Personally I think this is a great program and we're trying to see what we can do to help them out a bit...

A happy ending to a scary situation involving a three-month-old baby abducted yesterday in Port Alberni. Police have now arrested the girl's mother and father, and both are facing charges. The drama began to unfold around 3:00 pm, when the baby was snatched during a visit supervised by the Ministry of Children and Families. It quickly became BC's second-ever Amber Alert after police began to fear for the baby's safety. They now say the child wasn't in any danger, the father was just desperate to reunite his family, and had reached the end of his rope. Christopher Justa will be in court later today to face charges.

Thanks for the update, fish - that's good news.
You get my vote for posting this type of thing - we should all do it. "Getting the word out" is axactly what the Amber Alert is all about, and as easy it is these days to jump from one state to another, a national (and multi-national) audience sure can't hurt.

I see where the lowest of low-live's in Florida got the death penalty today for abducting, raping, and killing the 12 or 13 year old little girl outside of the carwash. I'm not really for the death penalty but I would personally pull the switch for this sonofabitch.
I've told my niece, if confronted with a situation as such, to scream and run but never let them take you. We have to have these kind of discussions with our children nowadays. Very sad indeed.

Very sad indeed. Unfortunately, this is the world we live in.
There are many, many sick people out there and only a handful of them ever get caught. Soooo many victims are afraid to speak out that a huge number of offenders are never flushed out. The sad part is that if you only do something minor (I won't get into details, but we'll call it "touching" for now...), you get a slap on the wrist, a fine, community service, and 10 to 15 years on probation. Once the offence becomes aggrivated (bad things that most normal people can't even think about without wanting to hurl), then the loser gets to spend some time in prison being someone's bitch... and we all know that criminals who do things to children get the worst of the worst treatment in prison... that's a *good* thing.
I'll step down off my soapbox now...

very good advise. from what i understand most (or at elast many) cases of rape, abduction, and serious assault could have been avoided simply by makign alot of noise and struggling some. seems alot of victims just freeze up, plus the perpetrators are often in what borders on a trance, that can be broken with enough noise sometimes. i know my mother (many many moons ago) went thru that situation, and a primal scream at the last moment was the only thing that saved her (fucker scurried away soon as she screamed). sister also survived an attempted abduction simply by strugglign nd breaking free (was told when reporting it that most jsut freeze, don't struggle, and are thus taken easily). it's a fucked up world we live in.

Good on you Fish! The more people that get involved the better. Here they issue them on the IDOT highway signs and send out the alerts through lottery machines too. AND IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM! Time is of the essence in these cases so the more folks on board the better the chance. Send your kids to martial arts when they are young. I recommend Ryu Kyu Kempo for the pressure point strikes they teach.
