quote: They really do read the site..
quote: For the most part, global reaction seems to be "disappointment"
These two statements stand out in my mind as quite contradictory. If they actually took the time to read this or any other similar forum they would currently KNOW and would have already KNOWN what we want(ed).
Assuming for a moment that someone - someone who's a mover and shaker within Kawasaki - is reading this, why now should I even bother to tell you what disappoints me about what you've decided to puke up onto our front porch?
It's glaringly evident that you didn't bother to take the time to read this or any other similar forum before you made your decision(s).
So why now?
And let me ask you why, when the opinions of your customers have been so readily available, didn't you bother to make the product that we've been asking you for the past 4(+) years to make?
Is it really such a mystery to you why 'For the most part, global reaction seems to be "disappointment"'? Is that in which we're so disappointed anything remotely like what we've been talking about for years? Could that be why we're all so disappointed??
So I'll ask again - why haven't you been listening when the opinions you supposedly now seek have been all around you for years and so easily tapped in to...
Next, this being just one more mounting problem, why in the world should I spend any more of my money with your company when your response to problems in the past has been so poor?
So, makebelieve concerned Kawasaki rep, answer my questions and I just might begin to care to answer yours.
Very well written & is exactly how I feel. They don't listen to their customers.
Discontinuing the ZZR, ZRX, & ZX12R say it all. All three have a great following. WTF are they thinking???
I'm still in shock......what are they thinking? Someone please tell me??!??!!???

I dont care what any of you guys say...Relax and give this new 14 a chance!!!
Kawasakis still have less mechanical break downs and quirks than the Suzukis!!!
In my opinion Kawasakis are better OVERALL than Suzukis!!!...Keep that in mind...

Is it possible for a "R" version, that is racey?
Secondly, this bike is not going to be any better to drag, if the frame is the same as the zx12. There is issues with getting lower to the ground.........

quote: Your right Connman... but the reason the 12 doesn't sell is that it is technologically
obsolete...
In all honesty, the 10r should not be produced. It's really a track bike, for little boys that
that are wannabe racers. It doesn't do well with two up, it's cramped if you're over 5'8"
or if you weigh over 150lbs. You can't spend a full day riding one... It's really just a track bike.
It should be sold as purely a track bike and not licensed for the street. Problem is that
nobody lets you ride the bikes before you buy.
Every guy I ride with I ask them to try my 12... and that way I get to try their bike too... and
when we get done, every rider so far has liked the 12 better than their bike for daily use.
If Kawi had let people try their bikes, I think the 12 would have been their number 1
selling bike.
To me, the Japs sell the liter bikes to all the squids who wish they were pro riders...
But the literbikes are really terrible for a daily ride. (I know I just pissed off a lot of guys... )
On the other hand the 12 is pretty good at being 90% racer... but can still ride two up with
ease, and do long trips pretty well... In the real world, the 12 is a much better sportbike
than the 10r.
It should have been lightened, with the new 1352 motor... and it would have been an
awesome REAL WORLD sportbike.
That's about the dumbest crap I've ever read.

ZX12Adam, I believe 238 was referring to the great majority of sales. The great majority of sales ARE to riders, squids, posers, or otherwise, who could get passed by a Goldwing and a skilled rider. That is true for all or about all sportbikes.
Saying that does not mean that EVERY owner falls into that category, as you seem to have taken his statement. I am sure he was not insulting you personally, though it seems you choose to go after the messenger as well as the message yourself.
Why not recognize there's a point to what he said rather than going after the messenger? Because there is.
EDIT: I see you've edited out your going after the messenger, replacing it with the cogent thought, "That's about the dumbest crap I've ever read."
Well, it's obvious the truth in it missed you.
Anyhow, since by your efforts this is the level that discourse has sunk to, how 'bout this reply: Your post is about the dumbest crap I've ever read.
Wow, look how much is accomplished with posts like that! So effective at persuading or informing anyone. Really adding a lot!

Adam, if I remember correctly, you weigh 140lbs... and you say you don't carry passengers,
so in all honesty, a liter bike is better for you... not the 12...
But like Tren said... I was speaking about the majority of people, not you...
And yes I do track days, etc.. like you mentioned before you editied that part out....

MadMike , I'll take that bet IF you allow a pipe, tune, and remove speed limiter.
We know it will be limited to 186, so out the crate is out.

Cool to see some old names that were around when I joined in 2003.
Now that it's 2010 and I've had a 14 since brand new in 2008...I will say...NOTHING.
I love the zx14 and it is perfection!

Kawi,
I love my bike. Are there things I'd do differently than your engineers? Yes. It's enough motor for me, but I don't drag race. I'd love to road race and drag race, but don't have the time or money.
Here's what I love about the bike: It fits (6'6" 220 lbs) and I don't look ridiculous riding it. I love how the 600s and the 1000s handle, but they've gotten so small. The bike handles great in the turns and we've seen what the likes of Smokin, Brock's Performance and Ricky G. can do with it in the straight line. I like that my bike isn't as popular as the Hayabusa.
Here's some changes I'd like to see: Please re-engineer the body panels. The bike is a pain to work on taking all those panels off everytime. One upper side panel and one lower. Please lose the Foreman grills on the next model revision. I'd like to see the lines of the bike made a little more sexy, but retain the current riding position and bike size. Please upgrade the stock suspension front and rear.
Here it is:
The bike now has black-braided brake lines with gold connecters. I'll snap some new pics on the next nice day.
