R1150GS ADVENTURE
...who has one?...good? bad? overboard?...kinda' reminds me of an HUMMER H2, motorcycle-style...used mainly for the mean streets with an occassional sortie in the dirt...I'm liking the quirkiness of the style and the potential for very long-distance touring...the thing is, this bike looks like you're going 'somewhere' even when you're not...the full dressers (ie. GoldWings, Concords, and BMW's own dressers) just make you look like you're a very rich AARP member, retired, and on your way to WalMart to get more parakeet food (no offense to parakeet owners of the world)...
..I'd like to hear some real-world feedback on this juggernaut of a bike (in my eyes, anyway)...

I've ridden a couple of them, the 1100GS and the 1150GS. It's one of those bikes that I dont like to recomend or not recomend because like a Guzzi you'll either love it or hate it.
The front end works like a charm over mid corner bumps. It makes you wonder why all bikes aren't using this system. Reliability record is great on this model but BMW services are notoriously expensive.
The guys in the UK I'm in contact with usually put different muffler and I believe a chip in them to give the bike a few extra ponies. Most of the bikes I see here are left stock.
If I was in the market for one, I'd go for the GS and not pay the extra $$$ for the Adventure. I'd also limit my off pavement riding to slow logging roads. You dont want one of these falling over on you.

...yuh...looks very heavy...it'd be a fun road bike for a non-aggressor like me...the asthetic 'quirk' factor gets me going...I really like it!...a pair of ICON Ti gloves (you know...the sword fightin' lookin' gloves) would look very appropriate with this bike...I like the big tank of the Adventure...I've seen aftermarket ones...up to 12 galllons if I'm not mistaken...you'd need one of those thingies that you attatch to your thingie so you don't need to stop for a thingie break before you run out of gas ... may have to get one (the bike, not the thingie) for retirement touring....
