Klr 650 balancer

Any one know of any problems with the KLR 650 balancer chain adjuster and how severe.

Move your thread over to the Dual Sport Zone. You'll probably have a better chance of getting an answer/reply. Especially since the moderator has a KLR650.

I wonder if that is the aftermarket part that people refer to as the "doo hickey"? I'm not kidding. I read somewhere that someone is making a part in relation to the counterbalancer/chain failing.

Freedom of speech

To whom it may concern!
The reason that I put the KLR 650 question on 10r, 12r, Bikeland as well as Dual sport Zone is because I actually need an answer. Also the head cheese (fishantlers) told me to "put your questions on my cool website, dude!" Also the moderator of the dual sport zone doesn't know about this problem. It would also seem, and correct me if I'm wrong, that there are 10r and 12r owners out there that own KLR 650's and therefore having my question spread out on this web site would make total sense.

Got to thumpertalk.com and there's a KLR/KLX section there. Your question will be answered as there's a topic up there on the counterbalancer problem.

thumpertalk is a great resource for dirt and dual sport answers!

..anyway...the idler lever is a MUST inspect item...some go bad (as in break, shatter, or disintertgrate) in under 2000 miles (as it did on my new bike)...some lasts longer...some riders have ridden their 'broken' KLR650 for hundreds of miles and not know it was broken...but if you don't open it up, you'd never know because the KLR650 is not the smoothest idling thumper around so its difficult to determine if its broken by sound and feel alone...I can't tell you how to replace it and and I do have the specialty tools you'll need...you're welcomed to borrow it (you pay shipping)...the R&R is a relatively simple job if you have a manual and someone to walk you through it...go to www.klr650.net and www.multisurfacemotorcycling.com ....tons of help there...now go take a nap before you blew a gasket...

(I swear I wrote a post t answer your question, but I dunno what happened to it...)

...yes...aka 'doohickey'...I have one from Eagle Mfg. ...the kit comes with a spring as well. Jato (non-active member here) may have one for sale (he sold his KLR650 a few months ago and I know that he had an aftermarket 'doohickey' ready to install)
