After our encounter we put on the whistles. We'll never really know if they work until I hit or just miss a deer. They actually look pretty cool where they are. They don't stick out when you're checkin out the bikes in the parking lot.

I always try to hit squirrels, which share a deer's flight behavior, and I never can. Maybe the best way to NOT hit one, is to TRY to hit one.

Dino has been around since the beginning with the ZX12. And despite his injuries, the reason he doesn't post is he probably has a life unlike the rest of us.

Some guy, I would avoid rough roads where you have mounted your deer whistles. I can see 2 big marks suddenly appearing on top of the front fender!

Thanks ratbyk, I never thought of that. I wonder how close they would be or if they would touch the fender under full compression, (or if I hit a deer).

Dino is back home, having completed 2 surgeries. He can already get around a bit with a walker, plus he can pull a wicked crossover with it! That is one tough coot.
Thankfully he has a very caring and capable wife and daughter, both nurses, who are able to take care of him at home rather than being stuck in a rehab center.
He's already talking about making the Thunder Hill track day this fall

Yaa I'm still the same guy, and glad to see you are still around, too. But as far as this comment: "Doubt he much cares right now... I'm sure it's insured" You are underestimating us mens ability to care about innanimate objects! Thats always one of the first thing guys ask about both right after the accident, and right after they get put up in a not-so-comfy hospital bed and are drugged up.

I'm betting half his thoughts right now are on whether he should buy it back from the insurance company to make a track bike out of it, or on the always fun idea of what bike to buy next. DINO: heres a hint: it has the number 14 in it, and its so damn big and heavy you can cut through a whole herd of deer without even breaking that monster of a front fender. heh heh And they stop when you tell it too, without all that endo'ing fuss your 10 put up.

The whiney ass bitch already has a 14. If he would have just sucked it up a bit He could have ridden it the rest of the way down to Laguna, but oh no, a few broken bones and he just lays around in bed and lets his wife and daughter wait on him hand and foot. What a pussy!

That picture looks like it was taken right at the end of the Leggett Rd where it turns into Hgwy 1. Just north of Fort Bragg. Am I right?

...as you can see, Dino needs beefy his bodyguards to guard his frageelee waif-like body...unfortunately, his bodyguards were not working the day he went moto-deer-hunting otherwise the outcome would've been different...

You fuckers are killin' me here.
Thanks for the well wishes everyone. It's nice to be able to laugh again without going into screaming convulsions.
I can get around without the walker for short spells now. (picture Grandpa McCoy, only more exaggerated)
I'm still one crooked sum-bitch though and still need a couple more surgeries.
I'll find out more Wednesday as to what's in store as far as my main rehab.etc.

Ya'll be careful out there.

Been following the mishap Dino. :-(

Believe me brother - I feel (felt) your pain. The ribs are the worst - I am sure you'll agree.

For those of you talking up Deer Whistles - they are right up there with Pixie Dust and Snake Oil. Not worth a shit and anybody that lives in deer country will tell you that. You can have all the loud pipes and anti-deer bling on the face of the earth and it doesn't do shit.

Hey ratbyk, i believe you are dead on. We did make a stop on that very first pullout when you hit the ocean, and many pics were taken.
