05 10 problems
I have an 05 zx10 and while out riding I heard a rattling sound while getting on the throttle, so backed off n then heard it again(on throttle), so I pulled over and before coming to a complete stop the engine quit and locked. Just changed oil a little over a week ago(repsol semi-blend),any guesses people?

Exploded Generator most probably.............. How many miles on your bike.... That's the only part of my 05 that I worry about myself.... It was a big issue with the early 04 models but was addressed with the later 04s and the 05s. In 06 Kawasaki put the damn thing back on the end of the crank where it belongs instead of inside the motor spinning a twice speed.
What you described is the noise that people with that failure have always reported.... Sadly to say it's not an easy or cheap fix if that's it.

same thing happened to my 04 the generater shit it self
cost heaps to fix

Yea it takes out lots of friends on it's way south... If my 05 finishes out the summer I'm doing a tear down and inspect this winter and that's one part I'm damn sure going to inspect closely.. From what I understand there is some shimming that takes place and it needs to be spot on. So after a few years of abuse I'm sure it opens up and BINGO !!
