2007 ZX10 Bogging Down
I bought the bike brand new ZX10 2007, I just got past the first oil change, I took it for a rip yesterday to see what it can do. Off the line it seems really bogged down. I ride the clutch to shoot out of the hole but the faster I let go of the clutch the more bogged down it gets. On the last couple of tries, I upped my revs, started letting go of the clutch, and then just let it go. Instead of accelerating and the front tire coming off the ground, the bike just bogged down. My old F4 had better acceleration of the line than this. I should be able to lift the tire off the ground. I don't think the bike should bog down, if I let the clutch out too fast the front tire should come up. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with this. Please let me know.

"If" the bike is running right then either you have dry clutch steels/plates which is a common malady with 2004 models or just the ultra tall gearing is hampering you; probably both...
Consider taking out the clutch plates and steels and spreading oil on them with regular existing engine oil. ..this helps the 2004 ZX-10R for dragracing and comming better off the line...factory probably did not give you a well oiled set of clutch fibers/steels...
can gear down some to help...of course wheelies are that much easier...-1 front should be ok is my guess.. but I am not entirely sure about the 2007 ZX-10R model gearing.....be an easy fix to lower gearing anyhow..

If I pop the clutch when I take off, the bike should not bog down, it should lift the front wheel. I don't think I should ever be able to up the revs and drop the clutch off the start. Unless I want to end up on my back.

I agree...I have had grabby clutch problrms from dragracing with dry plates.. but not as early in the life of clutch and as you are talking about...
Once off the line ...does it rev up to redline pulling hard as a healthy 2007 ZX-10R should?
hard to guess whats the problem over the net...dealer might identify problem...

Ya, I talked to a tech at Kawasaki, he said this is not the way the bike should behave. Once I am off the line and everything hooks up the bike will go pretty good. However, if I am going say 60km/hr in first gear and I punch it out, not using the clutch at all, the front tire will not come up either. I told this to Kawasaki, and he told me this was not normal either. I should not be able to just punch it out with the tire going up. I'm not sure about that, but it seems that I can punch it in any gear at just about any RPM and the tire won't lift. I owned a 600 before so I really have nothing to compare to, although I have driven my buddies 2006 GSXR1000 and it did seem to be a bit more hairy, although I didn't drive his bike like I would drive mine.

Shouldn't I be able to lift the front tire by popping the clutch when I take off?????????????? My 600 would lift when I popped the clutch off the start.... My buddies GSXR1000 will lift... mine will bog down. If this is how they made them I say no thanks, they can have it back. If you pop the clutch off the start on your bike Brickman, (When it was geared stock) does the front tire come up?????

Look up the GIPro with ATRE. The bikes are restricted in the first 3 gears.

Actually, it's the first 4 gears according to the manual. I have road tested the settings.
1- Hard
2-Soft
0-Stock
The difference between Hard and Stock is very dramatic! The bike is VERY abrupt and "snatchy". I like the Soft at this point myself for nice smooth corner exit power.
Plus, it's nice to have the gear indicator!!

So you installed a TRE on your bike???? I didn't know the TRE had settings. You can set it to Hard, soft and stock??? Also you say that you still have the gear indicator???? I thought that was lost when the TRE was installed.
