I have heard mixed reviews about this modification. Supposedly the bike loses a bit of power in the 4,000 to 6,000 rpm range without any documented proof of gains on the top end. Any thoughts?

I'd like to try it but I'd like to see what the map revisions look like...

I'd love to see a dyno before/after, Fish.

took out the secondaries, throttle response is immediate, and more intake growl! definately worth the effort. I would guess that the lean spot is right around 6000 there is a bit of a flat spot there now.

I ran my bike now for about 1K km's with them removed and the bottom richened up by 4%...I know she has to go back to the Dyno...but she pulls harder now at RPMS up over 4500 till redline.

Why the hell does my bike have components that hold it back ,why didn't kmc spend a little more time on fuel maps and ignition curves and just leave off what must have been a couple hundred dollars of useless crap?

Nothing personal twards anyone but that's exactly why they do it. Probably 6 out of 10 of these bikes fall into the hands of less than capable riders so they do their best to make them idiot proof.

well i have to say it made my bike more fun to ride a few times but I am having a hard time
keeping the front tire on the road in the corrners. may need to tame it a little. I do think it has a little dip around 6k but when it picks up ya better be hanging on.

maybe I should go back to oem factory sprockerts that may help with the lightness in the front end. but I do like the responce of it this way. any input ?

I heard that the folks with the ZX-14's are experiencing some low rpm drivability issues as a result of this. Is this going to be the same case with the 10's?

lower gearing is bound to produce faster engine response down low... question would be did you experience problems on corners with lower gearing and secondaries in? if not then gearing is not the problem...mapping the fuel injection to produce a tractable power band with secondaries removed would be ideal if attainable... no one has reported anything yet...need dyno results to tell...I am waiting to see if worth it or not... need to see significant gain to justify a remap...

I think you hit the nail on the head salsa1. I have yet to do this modification yet as I am afraid of driveability issues associated with this. I am certainly watching this thread with some interest thoug but I think I'll sit on the sidelines until I see some dyno and a/f plots before committing, I just have visions of me stripping one of those philips screws on the butterflies. Damn I hate that....

I got my first real good taste of how my 10 will run without the secondarys, all I can say is damn!!!!! who need first gear anyway. I am getting a little worried about the map the damn thing back fires alot now. I think I better get somthing done with the a/f before I run it like that again, or I may end up having trouble
