lightest tire for the street?

We all know that less weight on the drivetrain means more horses getting to the ground. I picked up a metzeler M3 yesterday, and I think it was way lighter than the Qualifiers. The Pilot power felt somewhere in between the two as far as weight. If I do the math correctly I should pickup about 2-3 RWHP just by going to a 520 chain kit with a lighter tire. Correct me if I'm wrong. Are there any lighter tires outhere as far as DOT.

What are you going to do with this extra 2 horse power? If the lightest tires out there have shity traction, will it be worth it? What if they have a shit profile and turn like shit? 2 horsepower isn't going to make you faster but good rubber will. As far as a 520 chain, I did it because everyone at the track did. No, I'm not trying to be like everyone else. Its just when your chain breaks or you need to loan someone a part you know it willn't be hard to get or give. I would look for a sticky tire with a good profile.

True! true! but this bike will never see any trackdays. I have my 954 for that purpose. The extra 2 horses is not a need, its more like a want. Its the same reason we all ride a ZX10R. I consider this to be a FREE MOD. I will be replacing those parts sooner or later anyways. I might as well gain a few ponies while doing it.
