depends on how you ride
metzeler probably makes the best all around
street ..... hi speed & wet tire
michelin if you are smooth &want sticky.....DRY!!
pirelli makes a real good no compromise tire
you need traction because you get into turns toooooooHot

I use Pirelli Evo Dragon Super Corsa's on my track 9R as well as Michelin Slicks. On my 10R currently Pilot Powers and they last about 2500kms, on my Aprillia I run Bridgstone BT012RRSS amazing grip but don't last past 2000kms especially the rear.
On the Superbikes we are sponsored by Michelin so run a selection of slicks and depending on the track last anywhere from 4 to 20 laps.

I'm riding on Diablo stradas right now. Its sticky enough to get a knee down. I still have a big doubt about them on high speed sweepers. It feels planted, but in the back of my head I'm thinking "will it still stick in this insane speed" How far would you push a sportouring radial tire? I use Diablo corsas on my 954 on trackdays too. My other question is would you take a diablo strada to the track? Thanks for any input man...

Never ridden on Strada's so can't comment on their performance but I have gone through a few sets of Diablo Corsa's on both the 10R and the Aprillia in the past with good results, I would say it depends on the track surface and how you finesse the throttle as to what result you get.
You could take the Rossi approach.......... "you never know how far you can push it until you crash" then just back it off a fraction..........seems to work for him!
With regards to your question I would have to say No.

typical rule of thumb for the Pilot powers and their mileage is this in my expierence....I get almost twice the miles out of the powers as I did out of the Metzler M1's in the same riding circumstances....and better traction.
I got 3 trackdays and about 600 miles in the mountains on one set of Powers.....I have never over ridden the powers on the street. Keep in mind I REFUSE to ride on the street like I do on the track, but I still hold my own on the street....
