THROTTLE PLAY
Hey guys, I installed new grips on my 10 and now, due to the struggle to get the grip on the throotle end, it seems I screwed something up...theres exesive play on the throttle. It moves almost a quater turn, before throttle response. I tried adjusting the cable adjuster located "under" the tank....seems that I can't get enough play out. Any suggestions??

pull the throttle housing apart on the bars.
Probably wound the cable off the pulley.
Pardon me ....
But for your own safety.....
Should you be wrenching on a bike capable of spitting your guts across the entire continent if the throttle sticks?
Really , something to consider, .....if your new to wrenching , work with someone experienced, learn from them!
Especially a bike with the potential to turn you into a vegatable instantly.
Ride safely !

I agree... I shouldn't be messing with a deadly bike like this, but you know how it is... So many accessories that can make it look better than it already is... I already unscrewed the housing screws and peaked in, making sure that nothing is out of place. Seems like the cable is tight in there. That's what so puzzling... The play is only when I turn the throttle all the way forward, then there's a quater turn before the engine starts responding...
The adjuster located on the cable, close to the frame... is there a limit as to how loose or tight it can be truned, or is it just judgement by feel?

the manual states 1-3 mm freeplay for the zx14.
zx10 will be about the same
i adjust mine by inspecting the cable tension at the throttle bodies.
Should be a minut free play on both cables.
if you can not take up the slack you may have stretched the cable.
This all the advice I can offer over the internet.
Don't ride a bike with throttle cable issues though!
