Hmmmm...most of the builders are on east coast or midwest. You up for sending your bike to one? What kind of bike? How much you looking to spend? How much hp you looking for?

I work for Fornarelli Racing just outside of chicago and we do alot of engine work head porting, has anyone ever tried Hyperplates aluminum clutch plates I just put them in mine and noticed them almost as much as the exhaust, but back to the engine work lately we have been doing alot of porting and head decking. but we do damn near everything to a motorcycle. later

I'll look for Coby's number....if you're serious, he is the way to go. Coby builds bikes for Rickey Gadson to ride for Kawasaki. He is about to Kawi as you can get.

only 20hp ??????
$3500.....??????
you can pick up 20hp with after market products....
pipe ...
air cleaner ....
5degree ignition advance.....or a TRE
degree the cams ....
& some dyno time.....
the most expensive item....the pipe
next dyno time & pick up 20hp
20hp you would notice at the dyno & incrementally on a time slip
riding around......probably not
for $3500 you would want more..........Lots!!!!!!!! More!!!!!!
you could do the above + dry shot of NOS
set up properly
gain more & have fewer problems
of course you could get Turbo'd for just a little bit more
the more you do
the bigger the gain...........The BIGGER the Risks...!!!!!!!
the BIGGER the Breaks......the MORE you Spend
good luck

I would just say that from others results 20 hp is a lot to gain for the 04-05 ZX-10R... getting into the plus 170 hp is not as easy as putting a pipe air cleaner and dyno time.. bryan from this forum got only about 160hp and thats with a good pipe, other stuff like free flowing air cleaner ,MR9 and considerable tuning experience...
20 extra hp might well cost the $3,500.. just look at the earlier posts when the 04 first came out.. plus everyones input along the way I have kept track and no dice for an easy 20 extra hp...good thing is the lightweight package of the 04-05 that makes optimum use of increases where even say 15 hp makes more difference than on a heavier bike lika a busa for example...
Gunner be the guy to ask I think...

targeted horsepower......or unreasonable expectations
spend as much as you would like
or nothing at alll ???????
many have picked up
4 to 8.. sometimes more with a pipe
2- 4 with an air cleaner
a couple more with an ignition advance or TRE
and a few more degreeing thhe cam......1st instance of
being "in" the engine
switch to synthethic oil
all totals 20
residual HP ........certainly not "free" HP
many a magazine & tuner have taken this route
on many different models with relatively same results
im sure easily refuted......................
breaking cases....removing gaskets
replacing parts for just 20HP is unwarranted
& from a competent engine builder i woulkd expect More for $3500
a dry shot of NOS set up correctly
run CORRECTLY will get you more for less
& be at least as reliable as anything else for the money
turboed for a little more loot
quite a bit mopre than 20HP & set up correctly
faster & just as reliable
& depending on the type of riding oe competition
20BHP migght get you a couple of bike lengths
or a couple tenths
drag racing ......BIG SMACK TALKIN
otherwise without the dyno or stop watch
most would not notice 20hp.........
easily made up on the brakees or cornering speed in roadracing
600 times a very close to 1000 times or road race tracks
too close for comfort between 600's & 750's
usually right at 20bhp split
if a tuner could not get me 20BHP the ez way
he would never get a chance to crack the cases
or change the spark plug in my briggs & stratton
or tecumseh

quite a few
& enduranced raced a number of years
now that you asked .......
i have a question
many have posted over the years almost exactly as i have related
& ive seen similar figures for gains in magazines
for 20hp save for the equiptment & a weekend
thats resonable
for $3500 20BHP on an engine build is a rip off !!!!!!!!!
now targeted HP..........
as i mentioned b4
all together different creature
no less i seem to remember vincent getting right at 30hp
on his 12.....
now how many races have you lost ......y2kzx12r

any reputable
decent......competent engine builder will usually
baseline an engine
with the dirth of several generation dynojets sitting around
its hard to believe a builder would not offer
that baseline would be the BEST they could provide
b4 cracking the cases
for that i would allow at least adjustment to ignition
tuning carbs.....EFI oe ECU & adjusting cams......pipe & air cleaner
the accepted rule of thumb is 5%
plus or minus 2-3 % on production tolerances & assembly
many prefer to keep it tighter
many tuners would probably agree
All ...!! engines enjoy a 10%residual HP
that which the marque..... the warranty & corp lawyers
keep in their pockets
that can be devined ..... tuned.... fettled
& obtained thru several well known practices
be they foreign domest..... bike or car
10% would be an acceptable knock on getting 20 addl HP
out of a zx10r even tho it is presented in a hi state of tune
maybe not from your Average...... ham fisted.... shade tree
parts ASSembler.........

guy im glad you can even read........got GED?!?!? !?!? !?!
usually i read SAE papers & such
no less i have some training in the matter
just a couple months ago i mag did a pipe test
& managed to pickup 8-10 BHP......just the pipe
thats 50% of what we speak of
getting the rest would be ez & cost less than the pipe
for every thing else combined
im sorry the matter got complicated to you
addition & subtraction & long division
i will go real slow for you & let you count on your fingers
did some reading
saw you are building posts & an engine
at no time did i comment on
your direction of your build......the manner that it might take
or the results
1st & last i wish you luck
your HP figure so far is abysmal
just hope it stays together for you
stickin by my guns
$3500 for 20bhp.......... i could do better
but if all you want to do is talk ssilly smck
& throw money away
america is an equal oppportunity dumbass country
throw as much money my way as you like
i would not & could not take $3500 for only a 20BHP
make a donation
call it a gift
really what it is
is a LESSON
