My best option (I believe) would be to to use the lesser brighter halogen filled bulbs and still maintain the mod.
Can't say for sure how long either the bulb will last but I will ask Adam as he has been involved with a number of bikes that have done this.. .

Supposedly the trial and error phase including some damage to other pioneers on this deal has been done; but I am surmizing that from what I have read in KawiForum.com forum under the "how to do" section on this subject and seeing it has been done to other bikes already....

Yea I need to ask Adam directly to be sure what to expect from the "how long these bulbs last perspective"

There is a $40.00 refund for the old harness if I return; I will keep old harness untill I am satisfied with this mod.

Thanks!..

Most bulbs that dont last when used in a bike are because they are automotive bulbs. they ae not designed to take the vibrations of a bike. buy bulbs designated hd and you will find they last a lot longer.

Report:

Got all hooked up and bike back together; both lights turn high or low together with stock light switch as expected .

One thing that is now obvious is the reflectors (directly in front of each bulb) is differently designed/shaped for the high beam and low beam ( which I did not change).

This reflector (take a quick look on Your ZX-10R headlights) directs the light directly rom the bulbs to the rear of the headlight to finally yield a high beam pattern for the left side and a low beam pattern for the right side.

So ..I might be able to order this reflector and with some work perhaphs make both headlight the same. Don't know yet for sure but looks like it might be doable if I can succesfully get inside the headlights and put back together with no drawbacks. Will have to call Kawasaki dealer but theres a chance they won't sell this headlight part by itself.

So Then.... Yes it works as is now . the patterns are different ...By adjusting for both lights to be low enough I believe I have adjusted the normally dedicated high beam side so that it will be low enough to not blind when on low beams and serve as good low beam. Cut off on bulb pointed out by TedG seems to help low lights on this.

Just got done an hour ago and have yet to find best adjustment that I want to have. With a little time I believe I will find it . Enough work for now; might not need to further modify anything inside headlights and just find optimum settings.....

Present verdict:....Yes I prefer over factory so far; need more time to fully explore. Initially I thought it the cost was around $250.00; but after becoming fully informed... the cost is more like $60.00 and self installation.

Thanks Ozzy for info on the bulbs; good to know .

waste of money for this "upgrade" while you blind others at night.

After vertical adjustment of the high beam side to match projection height of the low beam side both lights seem to work well as low beams . I can't draw the above conclusion at all....

For someone who travels long distances at night then the resultant high beams may turn out as unaceptable; subject to personal preference as well. Grant that..will see with a little road testing...

It's an option I plan to milk for all it's worth...

I need to finish my bulb modification investigation. I loved the 12s headlights, and despise the 10s. If the bulbs can't be modified I may look into this mod. I'm sorry but there is nothing special about these reflectors other than they look great.

Hi TedG ;

the mod I have purchased does have the high beam lights Aim higher and thus providing high lights.

Have not been able to road test to see high light in acction due to recent snow and cold temperatures here in South Dakota.

Talked a bunch with Adam who sold me the kit and he has answered all my questions including the questions that have risen from the guys on this forum.

New brighter lighting looks so much better than stock in my opinion.....for me as a street user makes a big difference...

Let me know if I can help in any way. If this is as good as I expect it should be made available..

With recent snow storms gone thru I will wait for roads to clear to try the new dual headlight mod on the street.. so far looks great even in the garage...lol.

here is a add I came across on e-bay. Adam who sold me the kit and I believe they are the same bulbs I have with this kit from Adam.

Note: Adam had to modify the bulbs flange by reducing them to fit ZX-10R bulb. He left only the top tab which then fits the 10R perfectly.

Any ways anyone can see the new xenon bulbs are not only much brighter but designed and constructed for any motorcycle vibration you would normally have; off road use as well...

Lifetime warranty ? well don't know about that but they are superior and not terribly expensive.
