zx10r Performance
Guys, I have been contemplating buying the new zx10r when it hits the market. I am a die hard Kawasaki fan but I have been hearing some upsetting news about the 05/06 zixxer 1000s. I am hearing that the ability to upgrade these bikes to reach HP levels of 200ish from the back tire is easy where as reaching the same hp levels on the zx10s is almost impossible straight motor.. Are you guys hearing the same things? I actually heard this from Lees Performance whom I think is a pretty respected performance shop. Do you guys see this as being accurate? If not, could anyone recommend a good Kawasaki performance shop that could get the same numbers (200ish) of reliable horsepower out of a zx10r? I want to stay Kawasaki but Suzuki is making it hard!!!

I doubt that 200 rwhp on the Suzuki is "easy". The Suzuki British Superbike teams were talking about 200 hp (rw?) and they were spending a fortune to get as much hp as they could. I think Attack Kawasaki was claiming 185 rwhp on a Superstock ZX10, for example. That is probably a more realistic real world target for either bike, if you are talking "easy".

So, how about hard. Although I don't want to get robbed, I don't mind spending the money to get what I want. As long as I get what I want and it's reliable. I want the 200 rw hp if possible but I also want to be able to ride it in Mrytle Beach for bike week. What's your take on what it will take zeta xray?? Money, type of work, mechanic, etc. I had a friend of mine who took his 05 Gixxer 1000 to Lees Performance in NC and paid 5k worth of engine work and got 215 rw hp supposably. Do you think its possible to get this amount of hp out of a zx10r with 5 grand?

I would suggest talking to Attack or some other engine shops. But If Lee's Performance in NC is getting 215 rwhp out of a Gixxer 1K for a $5000 investment, they are missing out. They should be building engines for Superbike teams all over the world and getting paid a small fortune for it. It is funny we haven't heard about them before.

they can not, it is a BS claim...it is so freaking hard to get a true 200+ rwhp out of either of the bikes... 215 rw for $5k? shiiiiiit That would be squeezing another 60 RWhp out of the engine...$5k with turbo or nitrous is possible. Turbo would even be cutting it close. Some engine work and nitrous might get you up to 215rw on the gix1k. They are probably getting fly power for numbers. They use the dyno and then throw on another 18% and call that the fly BHP. Similar to car manufacturers. I really dont see 215 rwhp for $5k in engine work alone, without nos or boosting.

I think 8 out of 10 Gixxer 1000's sold at Bells Suzuki here in Lexington were wrecked bad inside a month. ( 05's right after they became available ) Better have Matt Mladin like skills to wield one around with 200 hp............

what good is 200+ HP, if you cant keep the wheel on the ground? If you are riding a road course then doing the suspension will get you faster lap times than 200hp will. And if you are a straight line guy, how the hell are you keeping the wheel down on a ZX10 or GSXR1k without going over on the arm???

even the zx14 is a far fetch away from 200...that bike is supposedly close to 200 FLY BHP...that is about 170-175 rwhp. Anyone claiming 215 to the rear wheel is approaching 240 or 250 or some crayz shit like that to the fly. Those wondering about power to the ground- Their are many ways of getting 200 HP to the ground, moving the bikes weight forward, changing the swingarm position in relation to the frame and especially height of the frame, length of the arm, height of the bike with respect to vertical center of gravity height..suspension is a huge one also, both front AND rear, and who knows what more. Tuning can also play a part...their is probably tons more, ask schnitz or muzzy, they should know those things...

Thanks guys for your responses. My partner who has the gixxer 1000 with 215rw hp has an extended 12 inche swingarm. The bike is lowered and I think geared on tooth down in the front. We are straight line guys obviously with no ambitions to ride the bike on a circular track. I would definitely buy the zx14 if it wasnt so f***ing ugly. I heard it's suppose to come stock 170+ rwhp. So Attack Kawasaki are the guys to ask about the zx10r...Thanks!

you Might try Muzzy, they have been working hand in hand with KHI in the straight line game for some time....
OLDKAWBOY knows a think or 3 about Kawi's and going fast in a straight line, and I know his boy has a ZX10, i am sure that Dan or Zack could give you some good insight as well to getting some decent numbers out of the 10.

Call Coby Adams if you want your 10R to haul ass. I'm sure Zack and Dan would tell you the same thing. 704-662-0992 What you're asking can be done and Coby is the man
