exhaust systems and price ?

Need some help.

Can someone explain to me why I can go to a number of different sites looking for full exhaust systems and see such a huge difference in price for the same bike. One site had a full system for a ZX10 for 623 bucks ( I think it was D&D ) and the same site had another system for 1434 bucks ( Yosh ). Now I know brand name and weight and things like that make for some of the diffirences between manufactures but are the really expensive systems like Yosh or Akropovik really better than say D & D or some other less expensive systems. I am not looking for huge horsepower gains just a better look and a much better sound than stock. Do I need to spend alot of money to achieve this.....?????

For the ZX10 all you really need is a slip on. Look at Muzzys or AreaP (sponsors of this site), they both have really nice systems. Then get yourself a PC Commander and have a good dyno person map it for you. It's definately inportant to get a reputable, qualified place to dyno your bike.

The basic difference is quality and material. D&D is at the lower end of quality and materials (no offense to them intended). The Yosh and/or Akropovic use thin gauge stainless or Titanium, and the quality is absolutely top of the line (especially Akropovic), so you get good what you pay for. Yes, they are definetly better. They do a huge amount of dyno work, like all good companies will/should do. Also, for the price you noted ($1434), that would more than likely be for Titanium.

But as DB noted (thank you ), for what you are actually looking for, a good quality Slip-On will get you what you want. We currently offer a Titainium mid-pipe, with a Carbon Fiber muffler for $395 to site members. www.areapnolimits.com

Thanks " K "

Is there a huge difference in sound between the regular 18 " slip on and the " Extreme " slip on.
I do not want something that sounds like a bumble bee going down the road, I like more of the low deep throaty sound.

groundPounder - Assuming you choose the larger core, there is approximately a 2 - 3 dbA difference between the 18" and 15". Most clients area purchasing the 15" by a ratio of 10:1. They like the shorter style, along with a more aggresive tone. It uses a 2.375" core (one of the largest in the industry) with a low percentage perf pattern. It really has a great deep tone and after 6000 rpm or so, she sings. You can also purchase the 18" muffler with the large core. This will be a similar tone, but slightly quieter at peak rpms (as noted above). We custom make all our mufflers. So basically you can have whatever length muffler you want, along with your choice of 2" (quiet) or 2.375" (louder) cores.

You are great man " K " no matter what that other site says about you. I live in Calgary Alberta Canada is their any dealers my way. AreaP is a product I have never heard of until I came to this site. I like the idea of having something other then Yosh or Akropovic, you see those on every other bike around. Thanks for the info.....

If you want a full system call Ivan and get the SS version of the Akra for like 930.00. It weighs 2 pounds more than the EvoII BUT is 400 cheaper and is the exact same pipe. Ivan will also sell you the Ti pipe if you feel like you just can't skip a cheese Burger or 2 for the extra 2 pounds. I got the whole deal from him Pipe,PCIIIusb,PC Ignition Module, TRE,Servo motor Eliminator, Clean Air block off plates for 1630.00 Shipped. And his maps in both boxes for a good starting point on each. Hard to beat that deal anywhere
