Prayers needed Ok to give you all a quick overview of what happend tonight....
A few buddies and I went out for a nice easy end of season ride today. there were 5 bikes in all 2 ZX10R's, a Busa, a Duc 748, and a telifonica GSXR600.
We rode about 125 miles or so and it ws getting late so guys started peeling off we lost the GSXR first as his son had football practice.....then the Busa as he took a wrong turn.
The remailing 3 were cruising down a back country farm road with me leading, my buddy Carl running in 2nd, and JD pulling up the rear on the Duc. As I rounded and uphill right hander I encountered a Dually utility truck comming the other way. The truck was hugging the center line as was I. I swereved as did the truck and we missed each other with plenty of room to spare. Keep in mind each of us was running about 30MPH. Carl however was not so lucky. As he rounded the corner, he clipped the side of the truck and slid down the side of it into the utility box which stuck out about a foot farther than the cab of the truck. He bounced off the truck backinto the lane infront of JD on the Duc. The road being as narrow as it was left JD no place to go, and he grab the binders hard.
As I got to the straight after the curve I looked back to see Carls green ZX10R spinning down the road on its side, and Carl tumbling off the road on the right side. JD had chosen to follow Carls bike to be sure he didnt hit Carl, and had his Duc on the front tire trying not to hit the spinning ZX10. He was unable to avoid the bike in the road, and hit it. this pitched JD over the handle bars of the Duc and onto the ZX10 in the road.
I turned around as quickly as I could to get back there. By the time I was there, JD was on his feet running towards Cal to check on him. JD had managed to get slowed down enough that even though the Duc went over, it wasnt a hard spill and he didnt get hurt. Carl however was not so lucky.
Carls collision with the truck left him with 6 broken ribs, a punctured lung, ruptured spleen, bruised kidney, broken femur, and both bones in his left forarm are broken. He was wearing a Joe rocket Mesh Jacket, gauntlet style gloves, boots, a full face helmet, and icon kevlar jeans....While this stuff helped, nothing was going to save him from 8000 lbs of dually. Carls parents have been notified and are on there way to the University of Louisville Medical center as I type this. He went into surgery apromiately 10:30 PM local time. I called his Fiancee from the side of the road and told her where they were taking him. And I know have his wrecked ZX10R in my garage as a reminder as to what can happen....
I ask for everyone to keep Carl and his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers until he pulls through this ordeal. And remind everyone that no matter how short of a ride you are going on...WEAR YOUR GEAR ! ! !
If one of the admins wouldnt mind posting this across bikeland to all the forums I woudl GREATLY appreciate it.....

Holy SHIT!! Man I hope your friend pulls thru and fully recovers. These type of things send a wake-up call to us all. I will use this thread as a teaching tool for my girlfriend whom I'm trying to teach about proper lane placement to avoid such accidents. While your friends misfortune is very bad indeed this thread probably will help to save someone else from a simular situation.

Man......I know probably better than most, how that situation feels. I was lucky that I was able to walk away with a broken collarbone, and writing off lizard's bike, but I can understand how that happens. I sure hope that things work out ok.......

I agree in prayer with all praying for a full recuperation and peace to his family while recuperating this bad occurence...
Just a positive reminder : we should not wait for a bad occurence to pray but we should make a habit to ask God for protection on a regular basis...prayer is a proactive tool available to all who believe.... keep your relationship alive with your father above...Defensive driving sure does not hurt either.. God speed..

Man, that really sucks and it goes to show that insane speed is not always the cause for problems.

I wish Carl a quick and full recovery. I also hope his friends and family find some sort of comfort from each other in these trying times.

Thank you all for yout thoughts of him in his time of need.....Carl has been awake since the time of the accident, I sat on the side of the road with him talking to him and holding his hand until the ambulance got there.....He has been aware of everything as far as I know, on the side of the road he was able to tell you his name and age and the date.....he had no idea of actually what happened with the acccident....
Hopefully I will get to talk to him today.....
