I was very skeptical, til I tried some 209 take-offs. stick like glue,
ONCE WARMED UP.If you pull out of your driveway and nail the gas with cold ones, they'll spin like your on ice. Prob. not as bad if it's very warm out. I ran a rear in the fall.
I would have gotten quite a few miles out of it, if I did'nt enjoy the loooooong smokies in front of the house.
Make sure you ride a couple miles , at least, before attacking that first turn.

That's all I have run on my 12 since I burned up the BT-010 I put on it after changing the frame. The BT-010 lasted 3000 miles or so and the race take-offs have lasted 2500 or so.

I have and never had any problems. You just have to worry about longer warm up time like 12r1 said...and they also aren't as strong as regular street tires when it comes to potholes or bad bumps.
And if they're slicks,, you obviously can't get caught in the rain or you're going down.

I only run take-offs. After a track day I finish the rear on the street. I run a slick up front so that gets swapped for a DOT front. Forget about them being somehow less able to handle potholes etc. Sounds like a load of prime bullshit to me. Never seen a DOT race tire fail from impact, including collisions that shattered the rim.

I've read it in a few write-ups about running race tires on the street. I said I never had any problems with takeoffs, but was just stating what I've read.
Maybe they're weaker over time...but that doesn't exactly matter since they will be bald in 2-3k miles anyway.
