Traded in my ZX10 on a K6

Hi guys,

Last week I traded my ZX10 in on a K6...

I thought I'd post some of my first impressions for you guys:
- The K6 handles brilliantly; personally I would rate it 10-20% better than my 2005 ZX10 (with stock suspension settings on both bikes); and the ZX10 was already very very very good. I notice this both on the street and on the track; it's hard to define, but the K6 just seems to be able to take corners much tighter somehow. I would not rate the K6 to be more stable in turns as the ZX10, both bikes feel pretty solid, but the ZX10 tends to "go wide".
- The low down power on the K6 is truly awesome and makes for a huge grin factor. Whether this will give it an edge over my old ZX10 remains to be seen as the top end is not quite as wicked as on the ZX10, so my top speeds down the straights seem to be a little slower - but then again I'm still breaking the K6 in...we'll see once I can tbelt the K6.
- To me the overall styling and built quality feels a little more refined on the K6 than on the ZX10. I truly hope that the 2006 ZX10 will take a step in this direction and not give you quite that "frame and engine with some fairing slapped on the side" feel...from the 2006 pics it seems like they are paying more attention to this...something that I demand when I pay $$$ for a top end bike.

I have ordered a 2006 ZX10 because I would like to have both of these bikes - I know that most of the magazines pit these two bikes out against each other and that its either or, but the bikes have completely different "personalities" and about the only thing they have in common is big grins all around...

We live in a wonderfull time.

That is funny you say that about the suspension. The stock suspension any 10R comes from the dealer/factory just plain hard and just needs to be dialed in. Just make some simple adjustments and the stock suspension is way helluva lot better than the GSXR1000.

And it is not just me, Motorcycle Daily voiced the suspension was way better on the 10R when they did a very subjective, informative comparo, seen here:
