if you are going to make the intake breath better, to get the most of it, you will need to make the exhaust breath better....tha tmeans full exhausts and degree wheels....filters, and such......if you use the head gasket you will prolly have to run 93 or better gas....as opposed to the 90 octane recommended.....

Cams are alot of money, for not that many ponies.....they woudl be one of the last things I did, after some cleaning of the posrts, maybe back cut the valves and everythign else I coudl do to the head, if I were going with cams.....just some thoughts

I am going with a thin head gasket and a slip on . The good part is I can still run 90 octane because I have already lost almost 2 compression points by living at 4500 feet.

I just had the performance cams ordered. Anyone have a map for the following: bmc race filter, akra slip-on, pc III (usb), race gasket and valve adjustment(if that matters)?

the head gasket cost 17.00 and the cam is around 200 or so. I think the cam should give you some good power. The duration on the stock cam is 300 with a lift of 358 (03583).
The duration on the Kawi cam is 310 with a lift of 382(03819)
As you can tell this cam is alot larger then stock. I am sure the cam will give more mid to top end power increase. In order to see the increase, most case you will need to raise the compression (thinner head gasket or milling the head or cylnder)

Thinner head gasket: stock is .65 mm =0256
Kawi AM .40mm = 0157
That's roughly 10 thousandths off your head or cylnder

You need a custom map done if you want to most from your bike. Trust me, don't skimp with others maps and get one done. You'll be glad you did.

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum. I agree have your bike customed mapped. I gained 9 hp on a custom map compared to a matching exhaust map. 2004 zx10
