Shooting flames, running rich?

I am shooting alot of small blue flames on decel, and just when ever i want them to fly out...i take it this means i am running rich? sometimes tere are weird exceptions which is why i wanted to get optinions, cause knowing me, it will be running lean, and i just didnt think outside the box...so running lean or rich when flames out the exhaust?

Your running too rich, your getting unburnt fuel in your exhaust. Have you got a pipe and a filter? This will help lean it out.

Fairly normal in off-throttle position. Some engines/models seem to be more prone to doing it (or not). The 10 seems to be more prone to doing it. Mine sometimes shoots 2 foot plus flames out. Fairly neat looking at night or on the dyno. There appears to be no ill affects that it causes since after it reaches the atmosphere it's out pretty quick. Fuel curve is in the 12.5 - 13.4 range and is perfectly ok. I've yet to see a 10 running "too rich". I've probably dyno'd 30 plus different 10's and checked the fuel curve on all of them.

It will have a tendency to do it more with an aftermarket exhaust, because the straight-thru core designs allow unobstructed flow of the flame when it's ignited (residual and/or unburned fuel). With the stock muffler having many chambers and "tri-tubes", along with various other reasons, it can be much more difficult to "shoot flames". Enjoy the show.

yea, buddies say it shoots flames every 60 secs, only a few times it has shot 2 foot flames and that scared the crap out of my riding buddies, they asked if i had a spark plug in the exhaust, I was laughing...but a coil/plug and the whole set up takes an hour to do and cost $15, but I got it for free! I am sure a filter would help...I dont care, just wanted to know if that was cool. bryant...you have any PC3 maps for those extreme slip-ons like the one your going to hook me up with later this month?

No maps. See same question in your "Jardine or Muzzy" thread.
