Clutch bang?

Been away but feels like home with all of the familiar names. When I put my clutch into first gear I get a bang. Done the adjustedment several times but hasn't helped. Any suggestions?

I am having a bit of trouble understanding the question. Are you trying to say that when you put the bike in 1st gear (with the shifter) from neutral, it gives a bang? If so that is pretty much standard fare for Kawasakis. I don't think I have ever owned one that didn't do that.

Hi Ted...Both of my 11's never did it. None of my 9's did it and neither one of my 12's did it. I did a slight adjustment today and it is improved. Idle and everything else is where it should be. Thanks for the reply.

I would agree that Kawasaki's do have a definete clunk into first gear. Pretty much. Most times, especially on a cold motor, I pull the clutch lever in a few times to help free the plates and get more oil circulating between them before clicking into gear. It helps ease the clunk. As a general rule, I pull in the clutch for a second or two, then click into gear all the time (hot or cold). Obviously this is only when stopped and/or going into first gear. It seems to be less obnoxious about 50% of the time.

Of course you can also try all the different "snake oils" that seem to offer magical (sic) differences.... For the most part, and I've tested all of them, Golden Spectro does seem a little better than most. And forwhatever reason, especially on a Kawasaki gearboxs. But you'll definetly get a hundred different opinions on the subject.

K bryant...I'll work the lever as you suggested. Sounds reasonable. I got off the Mobil 1 15-50 yesterday & went to Castrol 20-50 synthetic. The bike is tighter with the Castrol & runs cooler, better. Thanks for the tip.

Make sure your clutch is getting oil.
