ping extremelean....urgent!
I got a few parts from Ron Ayers.....ordered everything for a 04 black 10r.
The lower left fairing is a different color than the original. It's a darker/ closer to a glossy black, where the original is more of a flat black.
I talked to Ayers this morning and they said it's a bad paint job/wrong packaging by Kawi.
I told them I'd like to order a right side to match the darker one and they told me there's no guarantee what I'll get!?!?!?!
Is there a certain parts # for the darker one or was the painter high?
I need to make a decision by tomorrow or I'm gonna' get shafted by their return policy.

Looks like there are two part numbers.
Left:
55028-0009-4P (Graystone)
55028-0009-8J (Black)
Right:
55028-0010-4P (graystone)
55028-0010-8J (Black)

Sorry Dino.....just saw this post......looks like "lurking is right"......what part # did you get.....sounds like Ayers ordered the wrong parts.

Thanks for the help guys!
Here's the update....
They gave me the part i ordered (0009-8J)
They said this is the ONLY # they have for 04's.....same part for all the different colored bikes.
They said it is supposed to be a flat black.
They also told me the part #'s for the graystone are invalid #'s.
At this point my only choice is to have them pick up the lower tomorrow and re-order it. She said when the new one came in, they would compare the 2 and make sure that i get a flat black one.
I would like to just replace both of them with the darker black but it looks like I'll just have to paint them black.
Is the graystone actually the darker one and it will come on the 05's ???

1. Color descriptions from K are often not very representative of what you expect to see (i.e. "graystone" might look blacker than "black")
2. The color code in the part number (8J) is rarely inaccurate. If you want the right to match your new one, order a 0010-8J.
3. Both part number ARE valid and available.
4. 4P shows for '05 only, but that could be a mistake on the parts catalog. If you want to match the original color on your bike, I would order a 4P
5. Don't have anything painted, there are only 2 choices, one of them will surely be correct.

Ayers say "invalid" on the 4p.
Fed ex is coming to take the black one back tomorrow, but I'll try calling tthem off If I can order a 0010-8J and have it match the black one.
Ayers is telling me if I order the 0010 8J, I'm gonna' get a GRAY one.
This is angrifying me.

4P #'s are NOT invalid!!
They are in stock, but if your looking for a dark color....you dont want the graystone.

Jeff, if you're telling me I can get the right side in the darker color, I'm gonna' cancel the fed -ex pick-up tomorrow!
Now,....how do I get it?
Do I have to deal with Kawi direct?
I guess I'll go to buykaw,com and see what happens.

NO....the 4P # is not darker...it's actually a gray color.
as for the color variation in the black one you ordered...I'm not quite sure what to tell ya.......wait till they receive the other one and compare them....personally, I'd just have the lowers painted the color I wanted.
I know it's a pain in the rear, but just my .02$

Does Kawi match contributions, cause if they do like most companies at fifty percent, then your opinion is worth .03 cents actually.

Ron Ayers isn't always up to date on Kawi part numbers , they will insist a good number isn't.

I cancelled the pick up. Gonna' scuff 'em up and paint them Gloss black/no clear coat so touch from rock chips is easy.
