I am now a licensed racer

God, that feels unbelievably good to say.

I am now ASMA/CCS AM # 969

I will paint the numbers on the R6 tonight.

Shakedown trackdays weekend after this one.

Congraulations. My only advice to you as you explore your limits - is if you think you're going to crash, fight it right into the ground (in most cases...). Because you'd be amazed at the saves you can make by not giving up and accepting that you can't. Always believe you can. It's much more fun to brag about how fast you were going when you saved it, than brag about a crash.

Congrats!! Now go hide your wallet! Nice to see someone else take the plunge. It will be fun to follow your progress - you should be able to collect your share of trophies while in Am. class. Best of luck to you, and heed all of KB's advice - lucky to have him on this board.

One additional piece of advice - If you have the opportunity to pre-register for your races, do it now. You will get a much better grid position. At least that's how it works at Loudon.

KZ, Regarding pre-reg; see if you can pre-reg for the entire season - makes life much easier. If for some reason you are unable to make a certain w/e, they should not charge you as long as you give them ample notice (ie 10 days). Also, if you do well and earn enough points to jump up to expert, the pre-reg should still apply. This is how it works at Loudon(LRRS), and, trust me, it makes things much easier. When you see the long lines for post-reg on a Friday evening, and then see their crap grid positions, you will be thanking yourself for thinking ahead. This really applies to the sprint races. If you do any GT races, then grid position is not as critical. Good luck man, and come home with a big smile on your face!

Cool. Nice to see another racer out there. But hiding the wallet is good advice. If I have any spare $$ it seems to find a motorcycle part, tire, track day, helmet, gloves, spare parts, go-fast parts......

Don't have any credit cards with room on 'em. I've cancelled all of mine and on a strict cash basis.

So far I've dropped over $2k just refreshing my R6 for the season.

Last year we spent $10k racing.

Good advice JWright.
KZ, One last thing: Make sure you fill out any contingency forms that apply to you, especially tires and race fuel. These forms should be available at either tech or registration, and the manufacturers should pay some contingency for beginning racers. Last thing you want to do is go out and have a great few first races(top 3), only to find out that you could have saved some cash on your next tire purchase if you would have taken the time to fill out a few forms. People at the track will be very helpful in regard to this. Alright, I'll shut up now, you will have enough on your mind as race day approaches. Again, best of luck to you man.
