I have reported numerous fraudulent auctions to Ebay. They tell me that thieves have figured out how to steal established ebayers identities so that the auction looks more legitimate. People feel more comfortable when they see good feedback and a history with Ebay.

This one had 6 days left when I first posted this. I went back 30 minutes later and it was removed from Ebay. I had emailed the person asking questions about the bike but received no response. One of the pictures he was using had the stock exhaust. In the next picture a Twin cannister system was shown. The swingarm had DUNLOP wriiten on it in one picture and not the others. I felt 99% sure it was a scam when you can buy it now for 3500.00

eBay has become a hotbed of car and bike scams. There are a number of ways for the thieves to build up good feedback records, but the ridiculously low prices are a dead giveaway. I assume that they're after the up front payment, and then they slink back into the slime and disappear. There was a name brand replica Cobra listed a couple of weeks back for about 40% of the going price for these cars. I emailed the seller telling him that I'd be at his place within 24 hours with cash; he never replied, and the listing was pulled within hours of my email.

I think I've seen this guy before. I saw a similar ad recently where the seller had feedback. From the feedback page you can reference the auctions. In this particular case, the auctions were for womens accessories (purses, etc). Didn't make sense that the same seller of a hot bike would also be selling that stuff too. Also, if they have any other auctions, check them, they're usually for similar bikes. The descriptions also have "my loss, your gain" sob stories. The "seller" is from overseas. The deal is, if you send good money overseas to a scammer, for sure kiss it goodbye. If you offer cash, that scares them away, as does any mention of using an escrow service. They might also suggest the square deal service, which is offered by/through ebay. That service is only valid IF the auction goes through ebay in the first place. These ads are just the hook.
