New tires for the street?
I know that a lot of you have already changed out the OEM tires off your 10's. My question is this, what tires did you go with? and how are they performing on the 10? How many miles are you getting from them?
I would like to stick with the Supercorsas as street tires, but I cant afford that many tires.....lol

208ZR's - dunno bout wear yet, prolly get close to 4k with the rear.

I have been eyeballing those pilot powers....but I really dont like the pilot sports...so i am curious as to how they are.....keep us (me) posted......

I removed the OEM Dunpops before turning a wheel and spooned on a set of Diablo Corsas W/180/55. I currently have about 1,300m of street riding only. Obviously i can't comment on the difference between the two brands but i can say that for moderate paced street riding the performance has been unflappable. I may try a set of the Pilot Power next.

i have 1000 miles of breeak in riding on the 218's, they are already at about 60%....I was looking for a new set and figured I would just see what the off the self 218's would run...well ya cant get them off the shelf...only place you can get them is through Kawasaki and Honda I think it was....and get this, they want almost $500 for a set.....not no, but hell no....lmfao

I have a set of brand-spankin'-new 218s for sale, for a lot less than $500. They only have 1.2miles on them from the dealership PDI check-ride.
I'll let 'em go for the first $150 bid + shipping. Lemme know if anyone's insterested.
And to answer the question, I run 208GPs and love 'em. I don't commute -- just canyon and track riding -- and get about 1,000 miles out of a rear and about 1,300-1,500 from a front. Oh, and it's the 180 rear, although I'll be trying the newer 190 GP next. They tend to turn-in a bit quicker than the stock 218s did on my first 10R.

Possibly, although I've ridden other 190s (BT012) that turned-in faster than the 218. I would have to say that the profile made a big difference, tho. My other gripes with the 218 (probably talking myself out of a sale here) was vagueness from the front tire, and overall lack of grip. Keep in mind that I've been riding 208GPs on my 954 also, for the last couple years after ditching the BT012s. So my stiction frame of reference is skewed a bit (amongst other things).

I went through 80% of a rear 208ZR (I also run 180/55) in a single 50 mile section of road. I remember the greasy feeling (oh yes, I remember) of driving out of a series of esses at about 100 MPH on my way to 140 on the straight (Felonious Speed®). I got off the bike 10 minutes later and happened to look at the rear. I had spun it... little rubber balls everywhere, long streaks in the rear tire, etc. Since that was supposed to be July AND August's tire I had to pussyfoot it for the next four weekends...
Anyway, I'm averaging about 1400 when I'm not trying to destroy the tire.
After this set of 208s, I'm going to try Pilot Powers, then Diablo Corsas (and ONLY ride that set to the canyons and back).
I have a new (old) trackbike, and between that and the Code school I will have NO $$ for the next few months, so the 10R gets tender love, not tough abusive rear-wheel smokin' darkie-leaving love

pilot race 2 medium front hard rear
110 miles track (very abrasive track, they mixed sea shels to tarmac )
and 1500 miles of hard street riding. Front is good for another 1000 miles at back maybe some 100 miles left in it ( i change always before due)

I'm also trying to decide which tires I want to go to next... Right now I'm down to either Diablo Corsas, Rennsports or Pilot Powers. Heard good things about the Diablo Corsas...though recently I've read some negative stuff ...something about a problem with the left side? I had rennsports on my 636...they were awesome, but I also read that you have to modify the hugger... Just yesterday I was talking to M. Ledesma (AMA) and he said that he's heard nothing but good things about the Pilot Powers, how they warm up real fast and are good track/street tires--even though he is a Michelin guy--I trust his opinion.
I try to get to at least one trackday a month... with the occasional canyon ride and ride to work (30 miles roundtrip) every other day. I have been running the 218s at the track (twice)--with the right air pressure it felt fine...but seems to be starting to give...
So what do you guys think? I was leaning heavily towards the Diablo Corsas--until I heard about the P.Powers...

SuperCorsas......and a buddy is riding the new Bt002's on his ZX12R and cant stop talking about them, and they are resonably cheap for what they are........right around 300 bones for a set from parts411.com

i liked the M-1's on my 12....but they take some time to build heat, adn the big bike did that just fine...I am not so sure about the 10, seeing as its soo light.....we shall see...I do like them, and if they work well then i will try a set....I am not gonna be the guinea pig on that one though....lol

The M1's reputation for a quick warm up is near instant due to their silica base so using it on the 10 is no diff than any other bike.
Now you want a slooooooooow warm up time try some Michelins.

Is that still true (slow warm up for Michelins)? I heard that the Pilot Powers warm up real quick... Has anyone tried them yet?

the Pilot sports sucked so bad that I ran them for a few weeks nad took them off....I will never run Pilot Sports again......I have them on the wifes bike, but she doesnt ride hard and drag parts on the ground....

According to Michelins website the NEW P Powers are their much improved version of the Pilot Sport with particular attention paid to warm-up time.

Fellows I just dont get it. My bike had 3500 miles on it and I already been thru 2 sets of tires and 900 miles of it was break in as usually. How are you boys getting 4000 miles for a back tire? Do you ride the bike? NO serious I can't get 360 miles out of a bike tire. That was at deals gap and Cherohala skyway area. This bikes eats tires. I went with the Metzeler sport Tech and now on my 2nd rear sportech. I'm going to try the Pilot sports next. I always like them in the past but haven't had them on this bike yet. Any suggestions?????????
