Front end shake
Anyone noticed a shake coming from the front end? I noticed mine doing it yesterday at around 50mph. Doesn't seem to affect the handling with both hands on the bars. I've got 1300 miles on it and never noticed it before. However looking back whenever I have rode it for a while I get carpal tunnel like numbness in my left palm. After a couple of days it goes away and if ride my 7 there's no sign of it, whenever I ride the 10 it comes back again so I would guess it's been like this since new.

Have not felt anything like that on mine, maybe you need to get your dealer to check it out. could be a wheel out of balance or tire pressure? just trying to help out . . . good luck

I've noticed this too with regard to the numbness, possibly from alot of clutch use and trying to hold onto this damn missile.

Left hand? Does the clutch cable have any free play? Bet you're getting vibration transmitted up the clutch cable...
It needs some play, too, as you climb the RPM range under power, it seems to tighten up, then loosen as you roll off the gas. Maybe something to do with the slipper clutch, dunno.
You can also try heavier bar end weights. Failing that, it may be pressure on your nerves at the pinchpoint of the wrist. I take my watch off when in my leathers or wearing my (very stiff) commuting jacket, and the pain I used to get in my left wrist (and still do, if I forget) is gone.

My front end shakes above 40 mph. With hand on bars if you pay attention you know something is happening. Take your hands off the bars and the front end shimmys a very small but high speed oscillation back and forth. I'm wondering what to do myself.

umm, yeah!!! Take a look at what I said again, that even with the hands on bars you can tell something is going on. I don't need to tip into turn __ at a trackday and have what could have been only a "moment" become a full-on "event" because something wasn't right in the front end. Any replies with info beyond the obvious?

Well, I won't mention the obvious things, like checking tire pressure, balance, signs of cupping, head bearings, etc..

dunlop is sending me a new 218 which ill sell. i now run mich.pilot sports and have had no more probs....

The dealer did a test ride today and confirmed that i'm not going crazy. He thinks the head bearings need looking at and adjusting as necessary. The mechanic who did all this seems a pretty savvy and straight up guy so hopefully he's hit the nail on the head and can fix it quick. I also hope this is causing the numbness, if not I'll check out what you guys have said. I'll let you guys now how I make out.
The dealer said this probably would not be covered under warranty because it could be preventative maintenance. This dealer did the 600 miles service and according to the manual the bearings don't need lubing until 15k miles. My feelings are this should be covered under warranty, any thoughts?

Re: this problem I heard loose head bearings on another site too, so I'm gonna check mine as well as the wheel balance, tire condition (pressure is fine, I check it regularly so it isn't that, neither is it cupping).

I had 2 different issues with my 10R causing headshake,
First was the wheel, It was machined out of round, Warranty replaced.
Second was the 218 tire, I replaced it with a Rennsport.
The bike is so much better!!!

It turns out the wheel is warped. I had a minor high side 15 days after I got the bike. Hit some sand then gripped again and the bike and me ended up in some guys front yard. Fortunately it was a slow left hander so there was minimal damage, upper fairing needed replacing and front brake lever. Apart from that there where a few minor scratches. The dealer is saying it must of happened then although I honestly can't see it. Either way Kawasaki said they would replace the wheel under warranty, only problem is they are now on back order.

That's good info, thanks. This kinda reminds me of the differences between wrecking an previous generation R6 and a previous generation ZX6R when roadracing. The older gen ZX6R was heavier, but withstood crashes much better than the R6 did...

I had the exact same shake on a '98 R1, a '99 R6 and the ZX10. Replacing the front tire with something other than a Dunlop cured this problem every time. I wasn't surprised when the ZX10 did the wiggle. I was hoping the D218 would be better.

My Dealer took one off of a Display bike and had me going in less than 2 hours!
