Jardine Westcoast Dyno Shootout

At the Queeen Mary Event Park in Long Beach this weekend. Saturday & Sunday. $15, two runs, printout, and a chance to win beautiful custom CNC'd billet plaque for each class. I've been running this event for the last 13 years and it's a gas!

We're also going to attempt to break the North American Dyno Shootout record with John Noonan's Turbo Busa. I believe the record is 514 hp set at Daytona. John thinks he's got close to 600 hp on tap! We've installed a software patch to exceed 200 mph wheel speed, and 600 hp on our model 200 DJ. This otta be interesting. We've got 5 other Turbo bikes confirmed as well. Last year we ran 71 bikes in 8 classes over 2 days. We're looking to exceed 80 this year.

Love to see some of you locals there. I know D & Roger will be there. Come on out!

damn, at a mere $15 for 2 runs, u'd think peopel would be linin up! surprised you only have 70ish bikes. sounds like the class of bikes that show up is pretty impressive tho. what are your classes anyways? interested cause the rules for the SBW shootout are being debated.

hot10r - Cool. Just do a map quest to the Queen Mary. Basically, take the 91 to the 710 right into the park. Can't miss it. Saturday 12-8,
Sunday 10-5.

frEEk - I do a "dog & pony" show with each contestant. So that's an interview of where they rode in from, tell us about your bike, etc.... So believe me, doing 70 plus bikes over 2 days is a lot. I should point out, that is from paying contestants. We do promo runs for some of the exhibitors as well like Edelbrock, Titan, etc... Total number of actual runs is closer to 90 (and thatz X2). The Turbo bikes take a little longer because we do more interviews with them, and if they pop-off sooner than they like, we let them cool down, adjust the boost, and run again. But it's all good!

that sounds very cool kerry! i like the idea of telling the spectators a bit about the bike. kills the misinformation that runs rampant otherwise.

The funniest part is when they "exagerate".... My bike is this, my bike is that, my motor is this, and it'll pump out 300 hp. Of course when the dyno says it puts out 100, it's always "a problem with your dyno"....

We have a lot of fun with it. But the dyno don't lie...

Just a few results from Saturday. Yours truly is leading the 1000cc class, at 159.7 hp. 2nd place is at 151 hp with a CBR1000. Open class (Busa/ZX12) is I believe at 155.0 by a Busa.

Tons of Turbo & Nitrous bikes. Class leader is John Noonan at a measly 328.7 on his Turbo Busa. John laid down over 500 hp in the morning at Nigel Patricks dyno, but ran into a battery problem at the show. He'll be back tomorrow after his run at El Mirage. He's going to break the current record for un-fairinged bikes at 204 mph.

The H-D Turbo class leader is @ 221.7 hp. He's promised to really pour the boost on tomorrow.

Tomorrow is the big day. I'll probably need to do some mystery gas mixing tonight to hold the lead. All results posted tomorrow.

Nice - a measly 328.7.

I can imagine John wasn't too thrilled.

Did Kerry bring his Turbo after all?

Didn't see a Kerry with a Turbo. John brought along 2 other Busa, but they were both normally aspirated. I believe one was a '99 and belonged to the owner of a "LA Busas" website site(?) and put down 149 hp. I believe it had very high/hard miles on it, so that number is pretty impressive. Another was I believe an '02 model that layed down the 155 hp run for the Open Class Sportbikes.

See ya tomorrow!

Oh ok. Yes, I remember him. He had the full on stroker motor that only put out like 186 hp or so. He had just bought the bike and it must have been hurt. But it was enough to beat me with a 176 hp pass. Extremely nice guy. Hope he shows up tomorrow!
