Poll Question: ...and while we're at it...
...what IS the thinking behind having a horizontal side-by-side two-lamp headlight system (10R, R1, 1000RR) and illuminating only one lamp on low-beam?

Not sure why they did it......... but it SUCKS!! I doesn't make the lighting any better. And I'm tired of all the stupid fucks telling me I got a light out.

Other options:
Because Ducati has a crap load of left over 916 single beam harness /relay setups and sold them to Honda And Kawasaki for pennies on the dollar.
They wanted the cool endurance racer look where you put a number plate on one half of the fairing leaving the other exposed.
To give guys something to try to modify versus some other infernal contraption that takes weeks to build in their 'dungeons'.
They got sent a bunch of the wrong headlight bulbs and decided to make em work.
They knew the Yamaha guys wouldn't like it and did not want them buying the bike.

what is the BEST way to fix this? Probably a dual-filiament bulb, yes, but how to wire best to not place a weak spot in the system...

We got lost on the way to Vegas Speedway durin the Busa meet there last month and we happenned to stop somewhere on Martin Luther King Bl to get some directions - I think Homey the clowns' (or it might have been Martin Luther King) brother informed me I had a light out.
Guess ya had ta be there - 6 white guys on sportbikes at night lookin fer directions amongst the pimps/hookers and whatever else was there, I think we all wanted ta laugh (but didn't).

...interesting thought...

...yup, that's what I've been thinking behind the thinking...

...its coming along...all without CNCs, drill-presses, multi-meters, and sleep...

...maybe...

...at least the Yamaha has the proper gages...

Yeah i'm with on this one.....i currently have PIAA blue H7's installed and like it but i'd rather only use the low bean instead of high.

Or for weight savings purposes they just used one per side - I'm sure a reflector for high and low beam on both sides would likely weigh a couple more pounds as would the additional relay(s) and wiring.
In this class, they may have figured that a few pounds would make a significant difference.

I think that the same guy who designed the headlight circuit also designed the tach.
