Akro Full System Installed a Stainless System on a 10R today...just got done mapping it...
Eatin lunch...letting it cool down before I run it to see HP/Lbs...
Did NOT run it before the pipe install...time did not permit so...no comparison...
Made 164HP before mapping...

I WISH...the "ringer bike" is the one we put the pipes on but...it isn't
THIS bike has never made a pull before the pipes...
Map wasn't too bad so I don't expect much more than the 164...
Also... I mapped for RealWorld NOT max dyno Hp...

Had not had a chance to put mine on the dyno yet but Akra's website list it as a 7 hp increase high in the powerband, the additional (11hp) you get at around 5000 rpm is outrageous! For me the additional power is right where I think it is needed.

What about the (admitted by Akrapovic) power loss below and up to 5,000RPM ? That must suck riding on the street . Unless you are a track only guy or 1/4 miler which then it will not matter much .

Dyno'd my bike yesterday...
Dynojet 250
Not a pro at this so I don't know all the details...
Dyon'd at ECS Dyno in Mesa, Arizona
Bike has 1900 miles
First ever run bone stock was 151.6 (done at 250miles)
W/muzzy slip-on/pcIII pump gas with Muzzy Map 154.1/77.0
W/Muzzy slip-on/PCIII Pump gas with custom map 155.5
All numbers are STD--He showed me the SAE numbers wich were about 3hp lower. One thing that was brought up was that his dyno reads lower then most--confirmed with other tuners and riders who have had theirs tuned from a different shop.
It's all apples and apples though...
Another 10r was dyno'd there last week same time and produced 160hp with a full Akra (not sure if it was evo 1 or 2). The graph showed it pretty even until the top end where the Akra made all it's power--down low 5k or so the Muzzy was a bit stronger...
One note: After getting it custom mapped the bike runs so much smoother now--not as abrupt as before. The muzzy map was kinda lean down low and the bike was stumbling and grumbling...which is expected because of every bike being different and also the area to where it was made...

Dude....did you notice much difference overall with the addition of the pipe and pcIII or just in sound. Also would you honestly recommend the slip on (i think that is what you said you have). Also is you custom map available?

My experience tells me that the "power loss" below 5000 rpm with full systems is a myth. I had a full Micron on my '98 R1 and a TiForce on my '01 Gixxer 1000, and both bikes pulled away from stockers from as low as 3500 rpm in 6th. If you look at the dyno graph on Akro's website, there is a slight dip in the curve at around 4000 rpm where power is below the stock sysytem, but then the situation quickly reverses and it exceeds stock up to 115000, where it pulls away by 11 RWHP.

Decent results Guam! I have a suggestion for you......
Do yourself a favor and have Mark at NVH (where you have had other bikes tuned before) show you why #'s are lower on the ECS dyno. We are not talking just "peak" #'s either, we are talking "Power Under Peak". Mark will base line your current set up and evaluate your A/F. You will soon see that your current map is TOO LEAN in many places. When he is done, observe how much power you pick up even at part throttle!(you can watch this on the computer monitor while the bike is on the dyno running). Then note how much difference there is between your base map when you came in and what you have when your done.
Save both maps on the floppy and find a friend to do Real World roll-on's with. If possible, swap maps roadside w/ laptop and you will be AMAZED which map kicks ass!
Also, Dont Drink the Grape Kool-Aid!
There is no "Correction" fudging. Mark will show you how the weather system integrates w/ the dyno software. If you don't do this favor for yourself...you will never know and your bike will be slow(er).
Take the Pepsi Challenge!
Good Luck!

Yeah bovinespongiformencephalo , I can see YOU at a red light with your mortgaged bike at 13,000RPM . Not everyone AGAIN like I mentioned is a roadracer or 1/4 miler .

Marco after riding my unmapped bike I know your right. Whatever the dyno shows as a loss below 5000 rpm you never feel at the seat of your pants. The bike revs sooo much quicker now that your in the sweet spot before you blink. You also loss the lag at 4-5K that no matter what gear I seem to be in while "cruising", I always seemed to find. No doubt the Arata will be a nice system dket, I look foward to you getting one and giving us your real world opinion.

Thanks Psycho...I might check him out...that's Mark Ledesma? The dude racing SBK? Anyways, do you know how much he charges? Just wondering....always open to new/different "techs" as long as they are reputable and as you have stated he is reputable....

Yes Guam......Mark does race AMA.
Just give him a call...He will work w/ you. He has a small nominal fee for evaluating your set up. Then if it's obvious you need a remap, he will set that up w/ you. Keep in mind....when he says "More Power" can be found, you won't believe how much!

That's cool. I have to say that all in all I'm impressed with ECS and Walt did an awesome job of smoothing things out and the bike runs awesome. Of course if there is someone else out there who can make it run a little better and stronger I'm all for it. I think it will be close due to the power curve being so linear on the map....I need to scan it in and post it--will do in soon.

Hey DKET.... if there is a flat spot below 5k rpm on that system.... Im sure Kevin will fix it. He does have some experience tuning ya know. .

Walter is no slouch in that category either.
And while I understand people wanting to throw a jab (or several hundred) at DKET, I prefer to think of him as another of the many characters that liven up the place.
Personally, I think he's a hell of a fisherman with some real knowledge to share although I haven't figured out what that knowledge would pertain to.

1)I paid cash
2)Honda makes a nice bike for the other guys. This one is geared tall and the power is concentrated at very high revs. A Loss of 2 or 3 ponies below 5000 is not relevant. A gain of 11 at redline is. Have you considered a Goldwing? Very cushy, great power off-idle. Look at the bright side, at least I'm not mad at you.
