Hey I am new to the zone, It has been a pleasure getting to read all of your posts. In regards to your question it is my understanding that due to the wet clutch set up do not use automotive oil as the additives reduce the protection that a motorcycyle oil will provide. I personally use the KawChem oil and have used it in all of my Kawasaki's, zx7, zx9, and now zx10.

Synthetic oil is not ususally advised until you reach 1500mi on any new motor. I have build several racing engines for drag cars and we never add syn untill at least 1000mi. Just a suggestion.

jsut a clarification to the issue of automotive oil, the reason we can't use it is cause some of the friction reducing additives (molybdenum i think?) make ur clutch useless. since we have a wet clutch, the additives do their thing on teh clutch plates and ur clutch will just slip.

Automotive oils have a lower shear point as they do NOT run through a transmission or a clutch.
