bovinespongiformencephalo, i very seriously doubt that. there are tons of ways to get good dyno readings, and the talk about "not related to which dyno was used" is pure crap as different brands of dynos outputcompletely different numbers by design. please take a look at /board/viewthread.php?FID=1&TID=8536.

as to the claims of ringers, i will concede this much: they may well use the better examples of production units. we all know build tolerances leads to some bikes having a few more HP than others. i can imagine the magazines getting bikes on the top end, tho i'd wonder whether this was the manufacturers decision or the magazines. in either case, i doubt it would be a ringer, or a massaged bike. just a good production bike. i dont know this of course, but that's what i'd suspect to be the case.

Wonder how many times we all gotta say the same shit?

Should just group most of these threads together - admittedly other boards are worse but jeez.

I've duplicated a coupla posts but not intentionally - that search function works sweet BTW.

...for those in the know:

1) Does 1hp ot 1ft/lb of torque really make a difference one way or the other on any one of these four bikes?

2) If not, then at what amount of hp/tq will it make a difference?

3) And doesn't power-to-weight ratios (rider+bike), Cd measurements (big rider vs small rider), and how the bike 'hooks up' (how it goes, stops, turns) overall come into play?

4) What about umbrella girls...why are some of them so damn achingly beautiful and so out of reach of some of us mere mortals?

1. No. Bragging rights only.
2. None. It's all about the rider.
3. Yes.
4. No comment. Sounds like a personal problem.
5. See #4.

worse thing that has ever happened is every garage, box van, storage area, back yard, warehouse, parking lot, old trailer, dealership service area, and bumper hitch getting a Dyno.

Freek, we got duped. Those guys at RRW told me straight up it made 162ish on several dynos. Maybe they were all DJ 150's or 250's and they used the same parameters and the dynos actually put out a repeatable measurement. It's not so hard to believe, is it? Come on, the mags got ringers. I think that suck dog balls and the mags oughta buy bikes off the floor if they plan to provide us with the truth. Otherwise, why read the fucking words? 164? Maybe with a full system and another $500 in tuning, and that's if you got a good one.

Well guys I will post my dyno again, this time with the graph. I made 155hp/78tq at 600miles with an overfull crackcase and a hot florida afternoon. I'm going to have it dyno later this week with the stock and the Devil pipe I have. Also the other 10R that way dyno'ed at this same place was in the 160 area stock. R1 have been 1-3 hp less on this dyno. Maybe us florida guys got special ones???? I was so excited about my readings till my dyno guy said it was down alittle compare to the other one...well i'm still happy...

And I also agree with Rob Muzzy, to damn many dyno's out there, and to many variables that can give each bike a different HP/Torgue reading!

Oh yeah, well, mine made 164.2 and I don't have any miles, just the shear thought of going on a dyno, and the bike spit out a sheet showing how great she is and doesn't need it. But if I really want she can put out more power just by my asking(hmm, sounds like a girlfriend I used to have).

Ihear you worm and 1bad7, to me it is just a illusion. I like mine better than my Gixxer, but they both have great performance, just in different ways. Later
