Is the international motorcycle show worth the cost?

I'm thinking about going to the Chicago show. Is it worth the price? Adults are $12 and parking is $11. If just me and the wife goes its $35 just to go in the door. If I bring the kids its now $71. Someone help me, is it worth it??? I want to see the 10r bad, but $71 bad? help - opinions? advice? anyone want to help a brother out with some cash???

I never thought it was worth it. I only go because it's part of a weekend of socializing with folks from this site. When you think about it, you are paying someone to see their advertising. On the other hand, if you have a specific item in mind to buy, there are some good deals to be found. Shooting the breeze with Doug from Muzzys and Ricky Gadsen may be worth it. Then there are the babes that the manufacturers hire to be spokesmodels. And the trials bikes in the parking lot doing awsome stunts. And free stickers for the toolbox. And free measurements for ordering custom leathers. Come to think of it, it's worth every penny!! Now I can't wait. Thanks DB.

I went to the show in DC, I wanted to see the 10R and sit on it to get a general feel for its size. I thought it was worth it to me, I had to drive three hours from my house in Hampton, VA to Ft. Belvoir, hooked up with one of my riding partners, caught the Metro to the Convention Centre, had dinner, went to the show met up with more friends, went out to a couple of really nice adult entertainment facilities with my friends. Total cost was about $210. But, I had fun and I hadn't seen some one of the guys since 1997, I really can't put a price on something if I am having a good time.

There was so much to see there at the show, they were selling leathers, helmets, gloves and all sorts of other stuff. You can talk to some of the riders from the stunt teams, there were all kinds of bikes on display. Muzzy and drew were not there when I was, I have talked to Rickey at one of the races, really nice guy. You know that you can make more of this than just going to the show, take the family out and chill for the entire day. I think you'll have a good time and you get to sit on the 10R...

Peace,
JB

DB - for me, since I'm extending a business trip for personal reasons, I spend $84 for the hotel room Friday night, $55 for the rental car for Saturday, plus parking at Rosemont or the convention center. Oh, I get to leave and skip over to O'Hare for my 3.5 hr commute home on Saturday night.

Plus $10 for the (advance sale) ticket.

I think it'll be worth every penny; I want to check in with the Kawasaki guys and sit on the 10R, and I can't afford Daytona.

Brother I am probably too old for her anyway and I know that I am too married. That was funny though, $1000, man are trying to get money for your exhaust system already...? What's she look like???(J/K) too.

I did see any Muzzy booth at the show. Where did you attend the show?

I haven't been to one yet. Can't decide if I will go to Chicago or Detroit. The Detroit show is much closer but I know alot of folks at the Chicago show (used to live nearby).

The Orange is nice, but the lighting inside really sucks. I don't think it brings the metal out that is in the paint. I think you had better wear a condom when your bike gets there. I needed one right up until the guy dropped the bike on the carpet. Terminal soft-on for sure.

Peace,
JB

Take a look at the Tundra Dual Cab and let me know what you think, I saw it at the show and I am looking to purchase one next month. It was gray with tan leather. Check it out...

more blips on the screen, I'm just happy directing the planes off the flight deck, everything else just doesn't seem like that much fun. Thanks 12RPilot, I need all the pics I can get. We went to the track today, and on the way to the track my buddy went wide around a turn and hit a car head on. He's doing pretty good, the bike is going to need a lot of love. We still went to the track and had a good time, and then we brought him some mags and good food at the hospital.

Sorry to hear about your boy hitting the car, glad he's fine, he can get another bike. Do you remember Redline (RPM) and Dave, not sure if you stoped by his shop while you were still here or not. Nothting happened to him, just wondering if you might have met Dave is all.

Our ASW Squadron would never let us get hit Swft. They were great. I firmly believe that. My Lt. told me.

Hey 12RPilot -

Was a boomer sailor in any case, so we just kinda rode round the parking lot in dad's station wagon, ya know? 3 knots to nowhere...

I finally had met him when I had called about 8 times cause I couldn't find his shop cause it was in the back of that shopping center, good guy though. My boy's doing good, stopped by today and brought him the new motorcyclist, Maxim, and MAD. Then made some jokes about his catheter, and let him know that he shouldn't feel too bad since it was only a Ducati anyway, LOL. I think we can fix it though, but it'll probably cost a pretty penny. But it is a 2000 748R, so it might just be worth fixing if for nothing other than a track tool.

Redline has moved, Dave is located farther down 17N closer to Ft. Eustis Blvd. just over the railroad tracks next the a Mercedes dealership. He's still repairing , tuning and racing. I need to stop by sometime to see how he's doing.

I am sure your boy will feel better when they pull the tube from his teetee. Well maybe not when they do it, but sometime afterward.

Take care,
JB
