166 ps * .9863 = 163.73 hp

to go from ps to hp multiply ps * .9863

they said +- 5%

163.73 * +- 5% = 163.73 * 1.05= 171.92 hp

163.73 *.95= 155.54 hp

what do you have to say to that gixxxxer king hahahahahaha

umm, big b - Babelfish won't translate a photograph file (.jpg).

It's pretty tabular, but the gist is 175PS @ 11,700 RPM, 115 Nm @ 9500 RPM.

This translates, as noted above to 163.73 HP @ 11,700, 84.8 lb-ft @ 9500.

The rest of the top part of the photo is telling you about the layout of the engine, drivetrain, emissions (!), and dyno setup.

The bottom is stuff you can probably figure out for yourself - mass, acceleration, roll-ons, etc. Note that the bike is geared to reach 184 MPH.

yeah, the second time. After I posted mine, I saw he posted the second post, and edited mine to say "as noted above" rather than delete something I spent about 30 minutes on...

Ok the upper part of the figure is about what KHI claims. So engine configuration and claimed hp ant torgue. Then there is a little maintenance information: for example oli change every 6000km and sparkplugs etc.

Then there are the measurements execpt top speed wich Motorrad donsen't measure anymore(its got something to do with this being politically correct) and then threre is the hp measurement at clutch. which is 166ps. And that means that it is short of the promised 175ps. And the another important figure is actual weight tank full wich is 198kg.

That doesn't sound exactly promising. So if it's only 166 ps at the crank by your reference, than the rear wheel would only be like 145(hp). I found that a little hard to believe. Is it a limited crank measurement? Since it cant be tested at full speed?

this is only a scan of the Motorrad test, it is useless (to me at least) if there is no direct comparision. What they mention in the test is: a loss of 2% between clutch and crankshaft and a measuring tolerance of 5%.
Comparing one figure to the next is only usefull if it is made under controlled conditions and the same technique. This is not the case here.
Only if you know under what conditions this HP is measured and what procedure they followed, it is possible to compare.
And everyone who claims he has a measuring tolerance of only 1% for instance is talking bollocks.

Just a question, if according to that site they used the dyno to get the 166PS wouldn't that be at the tire? That's how I read the graph, and it is 182kg dry or something like that right? XL, hitman, I think it's time you chimed in to give me a clue or tell us a secret.

So where exactly is the 166ps mesaured at? The Rear, or at the clutch or what? I have had like 3 different german guys tell me three different things.

Theres a debate on the other 10R forum to.

In the right bottom corner:

2 Leistung an der Kupplung. Messung auf Dynojet-Rollenprüfstand 150, korrigiert nach ECE, maximal mögliche Abweichtung+-5%

=
2 Power on clutch. Measured by Dynojet inertia 150 dyno, corrected by ECE(European standard). Maximal possible difference +-5%

So basically it is measured in the backwheel and then calculated to get the power at the clutch. At the same dyno on Motorrad 2003 ZX12 made from 178ps to 180ps. So it looks like it is a little bit down on power. Don't remember what Gsxr got... But can check it.

I read that zx-10r forum topic. And there seems to be a lot of misinformation.

First about the CoC. It dosen't give any topspeed. Basically it is a paper that tells that this vehicle complies with all European Union laws regarding that vehicle. For example exhaust emission, safaty equipment and all the other stuff. The vehicle must have CoC to be able to get registered in EU since 1996. (In some countries You can have a special promise to register also US or other cars which don't have Coc, for example if You bring a car from USA when moving etc.) With CoC You don't need any other paper to confirm that Your vehicle is leagal. And about the Motorrads hp figures I allready said it in the earlier post. And about that top speed. Yes in the text they said how fast it really goes, but that figure they give in the datasheet is from Kawasaki, or what they claim. Untill 2000 they actually measured and gave the real topspeed. For example for the '00 ZX12 they got first 297kph(=184MPH) and in the next test 302kph(=188MPH). In those same tests they got 181ps and 185ps at the clutch. But at that time Motorrad used their old dyno which was made by some German manufacturer(don't recall which). Then they changed to dynojet and the same bikes used to get a little bit less hp. ZX12 for example 178-179, both '00 models and '02 models. And also about the ECE norm they refer in the hp measurement is just a standard wchich tells how You calculate the hp out of the local environment(air tamp, pressure, moisure etc) so You can compare the figures in different days. Or that's what it tries to do but of course Your figures will vary. But usually Motorrads measurements are pretty close each other, when they test the bike again - for example in a comparo. Hope this help. Dosen't have read the whole test yet - don't have enough time. But in the evening I'll check what '03 GSXR or R1 or Honda got on the Motorrad dyno.

Performance bikes has dyno'ed the 10R and rated it at 149 at the rear wheel.

They pretty much said what Ride magazine said. The bike sounds faster than it really is. Handles good, but gets flightly at higher speeds. And is not as well composed at high speeds as the GSXR1000. They said it is raw. Raw similar to how the R1 was when it first came out. A good bike, but they seem to think that despite the 10R having more power the GSXR would probably be the better track bike/ and especally the better street bike with the torque down low.

Was a good review at the same time bad.

sounds good, the boys at PB have a slight suzuki bias. As long as the power is there, the rest can be sorted......
sounds faster than it is? what the heck does that mean?

Because a completely stock Kawasaki exhaust note is distinctive. It sounds very nasty compared to the others. Sometimes I wonder how they meet the EPA limit of 80 dbA.... Most of the tone is low frequency, and somehow it passes the driveby test procedure. Good job Kawasaki!
