I was asked how many sec my bike takes to go from 0 to 60mph and I really have no idea. Someone got a method for calculating it??

the highest acceleration is in 1st gear, up to 60mph or so.

My guess is that 0-60 should be less than 2.5sec, BUT some science guy should be able to tell us, eh zxlnt

Any way to use your GPS to time you to 60mph?

How about plotting time vs distance on graph paper and drawing a curve through your 6 known points (0, 60', 330', 1/8th, 1000' and quarter).

Then add your speed where known on the distance axis (0, 1/8th, 1000' and quarter) have an educated guess where 60mph is and read the time off the curve.

Expensive and hi-tech I know but, hey, it should be fairly close

lorcan,
what's graph paper???? LOL

I did some back o' the envelope calcs, prolly all wrong:

if you use the av accel to 60' (1.75g's): 0-60mph = 1.57 sec (could be close to actual???)

if you use the av accel to 330' (1.42g's): 0-60mph = 1.94 sec

someone must have a program which does this, DOUG MEYER where are you!!!!!!

60mph is 1604 metres/minute, or 26.7 metres per second. 1g is 10 metres per second per second, so if you get 0-60 in one second that's 2.67g. The calculator gives my bike a 0-60 time of 1.2 seconds, so that's 2.2g.

I happen to know my best 60' time is 1.38 seconds (with bars before you ask). 60 feet is 18.3 metres which would take 1.4 seconds at an average of 1g, not 2.2, so the calculator is way out because I know my bike is only averaging 1g over the first 60 feet so it can't be making 2.2g as a 0-60mph.

I think...

Might be wrong but...I think it was WILSON!?!?!?
He had a 0 to 100mph (or something like that) bet about ZX12s at work I believe, and asked for some "good...documented" times for a ZX12...he made (and posted) a graph (maybe 2 years ago)...

ProStock bikes go 0-60 in 1-sec...0-100 in 2!!!
With LOW 1-sec 60FT...
