help 117 mph @ 1/8
If a stock motor 12 runs 117-118 in the 1/8 what
would you expect to run in the 1/4?
180lb rider. street ready bike.
i'm getting a best of 144mph i think it should be better.

I pick up between 28 and 30mph on the big end on motor...so thats about right.

sounds about right I run 117 and then 142 or so in the 1/4, and Im 235.

mostly 9.55-9.75 best of 9.48 (last year)
30mph over 1/8mph is what i expected.
bike ran 147- 150 last year but my et is better now just seem the
bike is not running on the top end. never been mapped on a dyno.
best this year

60 ' 1.581
330 4.117
1/8 6.194
mph 118.33
1000' 8.005
1/4 9.552
mph 144.27
bike has never been mapped on a dyno. can a map make that much difference?

COULD make a difference 
Id get a dyno run with an A/F printout personally....if the A/F ratio is all over the place...then yea..a tune would certainly help.

you are assuming your bike makes as much hp as his does.
Lot more factors play into your ET/MPH than simply weight.

You're right.
I'm based that on stock motor in decent state of tune,
bike and rider race ready.
1-2 hp will only show up with the really good riders.
ET is skill,
mph is hp if the rider don't get in the way.

well another factor (or many of them) would be mods, such as my bike alone weighs in at 490 now with 1-2 gallons of gas. so I may weigh more then you but we are probably close, in total weight...

......just chipping in that I also think 144mph matches your 1/8th mph pretty well for a 180lb'er.
Dont' forget though that slight gearing changes and your shift point will make that 2mph difference in 1/4 mile MPH as well. I'm not sure how much you're geared.....
Having to get out of the gas a little bit in first gear because of a slow wheelie hurts MPH just that little bit, as well.
Most of my runs are 28mph-29mph difference between 1/8th and 1/4 too.

That is pretty close but...I think you SHOULD be able to run closer to 147 (again)...
As BA said...your shift point and gearing can make a pretty big diff....
WORST thing you can be doing is shifting another gear "close to the finish line"!!!
Your better off hitting the rev-limiter "in the traps" than you are shifting another gear within say??? 50-feet of the finish line...
And yes...mapping can/WILL make a noticable diff....
I ALWAYS ran my best times/MPHs...right after a mapping session...
YEEE-up...John's bike has been mapped (at 100% throttle) at least 3-4 times a year since he bought it (even before I started this job) 
It is...MUCH cheaper for his mapping now though...I.E....FREEE!!! 
If you hadn't been 147 before...I'd say your running what "most people" run but...since you have run that fast before??? I'd be looking for a reason why... (air sucked [for your map] that day/night maybe)...

How was the air? Temp, Humidity, Barometer, Wind. I write all weather conditions in a log book, and can tell you that it can make over 5mph difference. It does seem that what your picking up from the eighth to the quarter is about right.

The quicker you cover the 1/4, the less time the bike has to accelerate. So while you may get a better ET, your MPH won't be as much because you didn't have as much time to accelerate. Notice that sometimes the ET gets better, but the trap speed doesn't ?

But what about theory. The faster u acellerate on the short end of the track give you more room to accellarate on the big end of the track.. ??? Ur going quicker in less distance which gives ur more distance to gain speed down the other end. Yes, no, maybe,.....

Quicker you accellerate...the more track you eat up because you are traveling at a higher velocity.

Stock motor.....stock wheelbase...bt010 tire..and I weigh about 240lbs.
Dry kit...46 jet...4.5deg total timing retard...custom PC3 map ive played with over the past year or so.
9.87@151 is my best(and only) time down the track on spray. (that was with a 40 jet I believe)
They dont let you run more than once at Gville without a license if you make a 9.99 or better pass.

I was happy with it...I just get disappointed that I cant make more than one run (you always get faster and faster the more you run) without getting thrown off the track.
The bike is so rich on motor....it is down to about 160hp (made a max of 175 before I started richening up the map on spray). My last trip to gville I could only run 10.20@136 with the nitrous map (and no nitrous).
Im probably going to wind up getting a Yoshbox for the dual map options and figure out some way to mount the toggle switch so I can change it at will

I'd love to see someone use a PDA running Windows or something, and with a serial link, and use that to load a new map into the PCIIIR. Gotta be cheaper than the Yosh, but if I had any money, I certainly wouldn't mind having one.

Ive looked into that option...however from what ive read..you cannot do any adjustments from a PDA. You can only upload and download maps. (and hell you might not even be able to upload maps) I just remember reading the information and going "god this is worthless to me".
I wanna switch dammit
Perhaps a PC4 will come out that has the Yosh functionality.

If you had 2 good maps, 1 for normal and 1 for nos, why would you need to adjust the map at the track?
It would not be as nice as a switch but the same result.
