308 hp all motor Busa on the dyno today
I Just got off the phone with Cecil at HTP. His latest big motor Busa is cranking out 308 hp with Competition CNC's stage 3 head and cam package.
That's with little factory gen 2 throttle bodies (bored to 46mm) and stock intake manifolds and a regular Murray sidewinder exhaust.
I cant wait to see what it makes with the 50mm throttle bodies.

F***ing awesome Jim, congrats. What are the basic specs of the engine?
So happy to have a Comp CNC head in the works for my bike.

Dean, I have to call you one of these days.... pistons are almost done and I'm still running simulations and crunching data for the cam profiles. With the 29mm bucket there are dozens of profile choices... just trying to balance the performance with ramp speed and durability for LSR. Its going to be a beast Dean. Scary at the short wheel base you are going to be running.
The 308 hp busa engine is 85mm bore and 73mm stroke.... the cams are.... well.... BIG !!
RR, Maybe, once we get these fitted......

Karl, they will bolt directly on using the stock rubber manifolds. I dont have any pics of the actual busa ones. These are the zx14 ones but they are the same except the mounting setup.
Were still working on the prototypes. A shower head injector setup is in the works. Its a gen 2 setup with duel injectors. The gen2 motors need a lot of help in the throttle body department.
Your all gen 1 with your motors right?

That's what were trying to do. Its very hard being the little guy trying to get some recognition and compete with the "big name" well known guys who's names have been out there for 30+ years. Not to take anything away from them but name recognition is huge in the racing world. Its hard to get people that are building a bike at the top levels of performance to try the "new guy" on the block. when someone wants a 300+hp motor they tend to stick with the "well known" shops. Thats finally starting to change now.
We dont have the money to develop and try all our ideas at once yet. We are steadily growing and testing as time and money allows.
I get very impatient and want to move much much faster with this stuff.
Half the problem is when the grudge racers get one of our big stage 3 heads and make stupid power with it, they dont want to tell anyone else who's head and cam package there running so that the other guy doesn't get one.
Been dealing with that for years. And I cant exactly go posting stuff about the grudge racers combos and out them.....

yup, 100% gen1.
I'd love to try a set of big TB's which have completely smooth decreasing diameter bore from bell to MCSA, but there is absolutely no way to do it utilizing bored stock TB's,
Best you can do starting with stock TB's is like the 49mm Montgomery unit, put as gentle as possible ramp below the butterflies.
I will try the Montgomery TB's in an apples to apples test in a month or so, but i'm guessing i won't see anything remotely close to Cecil's results when i get on Johnny Cheese's dyno.
Jim, keep up the excellent development work!

Montgomery uses OEM TB's and machines them, puts a ramp below the blades, and starting with OEM TB's there is no way to do any better than a ramp.
soooo... are there full custom TB's for the Busa with continually decreasing diameter from bell to MCSA?

i ain't Jim but MCSA = Minimum Cross Sectional Area of the intake port, a key parameter in designing a port job.
As I understand it, MCSA controls air velocity as the charge hits the int valve.

Karl, What HP are you getting out of your builds?
Are you still the build master, trying a different combo every other month?
I miss your garage barbie threads.

Hey Gerard, how are tricks up in Memphis?
I am running a couple of NA Busas these days, one with hi 260'shp, one with low 280'shp.
All my thrashing on that poor ZX12 culminated in low 240'shp and i wanted to go faster
Got the 260's motor on the bench right now, looking for high 280's
Karl
